In the Quran, Allah encourages his believers to make Dua and to call upon his name. Nothing can happen without his decree so if it is relief you seek you should ask of it.

And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Surah Ghafir Ayah 60

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided. Surah Baqarah 186

In this article we will explore some duas you can recite to overcome some type of pain in your body, whether you’re seeking relief from headaches, for pain in body, legs, or stomach you should find some comfort in reciting these duas. Inshallah you will see a fast recovery and be back to good health quickly.

Dua For Relief From Pain

Dua For Relief From Pain
This First Dua is from At Tirmidhi 3524
Anas bin Malik said: “Whenever a matter would distress him, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say: ‘O Living, O Self-Sustaining Sustainer! In Your Mercy do I seek relief (ya hayyu ya qayyum birahmatika astaghees)

There is another hadith narrated by Ibn Abbas (who was the uncle of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) who said that during times of distress The Prophet would say

La ilaha illal-lahu Rabbul-l-‘arsh il-‘azim, La ilaha illallahu Rabbu-s-samawati wa Rabbu-l-ard, Rabbu-l-‘arsh-il-Karim.

Sahih Bukhari #6346
In-book reference : Book 80, Hadith 43

Dua For Pain in Body

It is recommended to put your hand on the site of the pain when reciting this next supplication. Reference is Sahih Muslim 2202.

“Place your hand at the place where you feel pain in your body and say, ‘Bismillah’ (in the name of Allah) three times and seven times while wiping the area each time, ‘A’udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru‘ (I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil (pain) that I find and that I fear).”

Overcome Adversity Dua From Quran

This next duaa comes from the Quran which tells the story of Prophet Ayyub (Prophet Job) who was under stress and said,

أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّ‌ٰحِمِينَ

Transliteration: Annee massaniya addurru waanta arhamuarrahimeen
Translation: “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

Surah Al Anbiya Verse 83

Conclusion

Inshallah these four duas will help you make a speedy recovery back to good health. They can be recited for many different situations:

  • Relief For Headaches
  • Stomach Pain
  • Pain in knees or legs
  • Pain in Teeth
  • Emotional Pain (providing peace of mind)

Avoid feeling sorry for yourself. Do not fall prey to the ‘woe is me’ mentality. Allah has a plan for each of us and to be bitter or sour when you fall victim to sickness will not help you in recovery.

It may sound cliche but it’s worth reiterating to keep a positive attitude. Between the choice of being positive or negative, it’s apparent that a positive mindset seems to be have more upside then a negative one. This reminds me of a saying that goes “those who think they can and those who think they can’t are both normally right”.
