وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ مِن جُندٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ
36:28play_arrow
Wa maaa anzalnaa ‘alaa qawmihee mim ba’dihee min jundim minas-samaaa’i wa maa kunnaa munzileen
Sahih International:
And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so.

إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ خَـٰمِدُونَ
36:29play_arrow
In kaanat illaa saihatanw waahidatan fa-izaa hum khaamidoon
Sahih International:
It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.

يَـٰحَسْرَةً عَلَى ٱلْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
36:30play_arrow
Yaa hasratan ‘alal ‘ibaaad; maa ya’teehim mir Rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihee yastahzi ‘oon
Sahih International:
How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
36:31play_arrow
Alam yaraw kam ahlak naa qablahum minal qurooni annahum ilaihim laa yarji’oon
Sahih International:
Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them – that they to them will not return?

وَإِن كُلٌّۭ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌۭ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
36:32play_arrow
Wa in kullul lammaa jamee’ul-ladainaa muhdaroon
Sahih International:
And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.

وَءَايَةٌۭ لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَـٰهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّۭا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ
36:33play_arrow
Wa Aayatul lahumul ardul maitatu ahyainaahaa wa akhrajnaa minhaa habban faminhu ya’kuloon
Sahih International:
And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّـٰتٍۢ مِّن نَّخِيلٍۢ وَأَعْنَـٰبٍۢ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ ٱلْعُيُونِ
36:34play_arrow
Wa ja’alnaa feehaa jannaatim min nakheelinw wa a’naabinw wa fajjarnaa feeha minal ‘uyoon
Sahih International:
And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs –

لِيَأْكُلُوا۟ مِن ثَمَرِهِۦ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
36:35play_arrow
Li ya’kuloo min samarihee wa maa ‘amilat-hu aideehim; afalaa yashkuroon
Sahih International:
That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful?

سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
36:36play_arrow
Subhaanal lazee khalaqal azwaaja kullahaa mimmaa tumbitul ardu wa min anfusihim wa mimmaa laa ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
Exalted is He who created all pairs – from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know.

وَءَايَةٌۭ لَّهُمُ ٱلَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُم مُّظْلِمُونَ
36:37play_arrow
Wa Aayatul lahumul lailu naslakhu minhun nahaara fa-izaa hum muzlimoon
Sahih International:
And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.

وَٱلشَّمْسُ تَجْرِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّۢ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
36:38play_arrow
Wash-shamsu tajree limustaqarril lahaa; zaalika taqdeerul ‘Azeezil Aleem
Sahih International:
And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

وَٱلْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَـٰهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَٱلْعُرْجُونِ ٱلْقَدِيمِ
36:39play_arrow
Walqamara qaddarnaahu manaazila hattaa ‘aada kal’ur joonil qadeem
Sahih International:
And the moon – We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.

لَا ٱلشَّمْسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدْرِكَ ٱلْقَمَرَ وَلَا ٱلَّيْلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّۭ فِى فَلَكٍۢ يَسْبَحُونَ
36:40play_arrow
Lash shamsu yambaghee lahaaa an tudrikal qamara walal lailu saabiqun nahaar; wa kullun fee falaki yasbahoon
Sahih International:
It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.

وَءَايَةٌۭ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
36:41play_arrow
Wa Aayatul lahum annaa hamalnaa zurriyatahum fil fulkil mashhoon
Sahih International:
And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship.

وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّن مِّثْلِهِۦ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ
36:42play_arrow
Wa khalaqnaa lahum mim-mislihee maa yarkaboon
Sahih International:
And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

وَإِن نَّشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنقَذُونَ
36:43play_arrow
Wa in nashaa nughriqhum falaa sareekha lahum wa laa hum yunqazoon
Sahih International:
And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved

إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا وَمَتَـٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ
36:44play_arrow
Illaa rahmatam minnaa wa mataa’an ilaa heen
Sahih International:
Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
36:45play_arrow
Wa izaa qeela lahumuttaqoo maa baina aideekum wa maa khalfakum la’allakum turhamoon
Sahih International:
But when it is said to them, “Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy… “

وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍۢ مِّنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
36:46play_arrow
Wa maa ta’teehim min aayatim min Aayaati Rabbihim illaa kaanoo ‘anhaa mu’rideen
Sahih International:
And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنفِقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَنُطْعِمُ مَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُۥٓ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
36:47play_arrow
Wa izaa qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmaa razaqakumul laahu qaalal lazeena kafaroo lillazeena aamanooo anut’imu mal-law yashaaa’ul laahu at’amahooo in antum illaa fee dalaalim mubeen
Sahih International:
And when it is said to them, “Spend from that which Allah has provided for you,” those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error.”

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
36:48play_arrow
Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa’du in kuntum saadiqeen
Sahih International:
And they say, “When is this promise, if you should be truthful?”

مَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ
36:49play_arrow
Maa yanzuroona illaa saihatanw waahidatan ta’khuzuhum wa hum yakhissimoon
Sahih International:
They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.

فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةًۭ وَلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
36:50play_arrow
Falaa yastatee’oona taw siyatanw-wa laaa ilaaa ahlihim yarji’oon
Sahih International:
And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنسِلُونَ
36:51play_arrow
Wa nufikha fis-soori faizaa hum minal ajdaasi ilaa Rabbihim yansiloon
Sahih International:
And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ
36:52play_arrow
Qaaloo yaa wailanaa mam ba’asanaa mim marqadinaa; haaza maa wa’adar Rahmanu wa sadaqal mursaloon
Sahih International:
They will say, “O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?” [The reply will be], “This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth.”

إِن كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌۭ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
36:53play_arrow
In kaanat illaa saihatanw waahidatan fa-izaa hum jamee’ul ladainaa muhdaroon
Sahih International:
It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.

فَٱلْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌۭ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
36:54play_arrow
Fal-Yawma laa tuzlamu nafsun shai’anw-wa laa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta’maloon
Sahih International:
So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do.

إِنَّ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى شُغُلٍۢ فَـٰكِهُونَ
36:55play_arrow
Inna Ashaabal jannatil Yawma fee shughulin faakihoon
Sahih International:
Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation –

هُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ مُتَّكِـُٔونَ
36:56play_arrow
Hum wa azwaajuhum fee zilaalin ‘alal araaa’iki muttaki’oon
Sahih International:
They and their spouses – in shade, reclining on adorned couches.

لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌۭ وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ
36:57play_arrow
Lahum feehaa faakiha tunw-wa lahum maa yadda’oon
Sahih International:
For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]

سَلَـٰمٌۭ قَوْلًۭا مِّن رَّبٍّۢ رَّحِيمٍۢ
36:58play_arrow
Salaamun qawlam mir Rabbir Raheem
Sahih International:
[And] “Peace,” a word from a Merciful Lord.

وَٱمْتَـٰزُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
36:59play_arrow
Wamtaazul Yawma ayyuhal mujrimoon
Sahih International:
[Then He will say], “But stand apart today, you criminals.

أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَـٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
36:60play_arrow
Alam a’had ilaikum yaa Baneee Aadama al-laa ta’budush Shaitaana innahoo lakum ‘aduwwum mubeen
Sahih International:
Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan – [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy –

وَأَنِ ٱعْبُدُونِى ۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌۭ مُّسْتَقِيمٌۭ
36:61play_arrow
Wa ani’budoonee; haazaa Siraatum Mustaqeem
Sahih International:
And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path.

وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنكُمْ جِبِلًّۭا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا۟ تَعْقِلُونَ
36:62play_arrow
Wa laqad adalla minkum jibillan kaseeraa; afalam takoonoo ta’qiloon
Sahih International:
And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason?

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
36:63play_arrow
Haazihee Jahannamul latee kuntum too’adoon
Sahih International:
This is the Hellfire which you were promised.

ٱصْلَوْهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
36:64play_arrow
Islawhal Yawma bimaa kuntum takfuroon
Sahih International:
[Enter to] burn therein today for what you used to deny.”

ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
36:65play_arrow
Al-Yawma nakhtimu ‘alaaa afwaahihim wa tukallimunaaa aideehim wa tashhadu arjuluhum bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon
Sahih International:
That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟ ٱلصِّرَٰطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ
36:66play_arrow
Wa law nashaaa’u lata masna ‘alaaa aiyunihim fasta baqus-siraata fa-annaa yubsiroon
Sahih International:
And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, and how could they see?

وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّۭا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ
36:67play_arrow
Wa law nashaaa’u lamasakhnaahum ‘alaa makaanatihim famas-tataa’oo mudiyyanw-wa laa yarji’oon
Sahih International:
And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

وَمَن نُّعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ
36:68play_arrow
Wa man nu ‘ammirhu nunakkishu fil-khalq; afalaa ya’qiloon
Sahih International:
And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation; so will they not understand?

وَمَا عَلَّمْنَـٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ وَقُرْءَانٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
36:69play_arrow
Wa maa ‘allamnaahush shi’ra wa maa yambaghee lah; in huwa illaa zikrunw-wa Qur-aanum mubeen
Sahih International:
And We did not give Prophet Muhammad, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur’an

لِّيُنذِرَ مَن كَانَ حَيًّۭا وَيَحِقَّ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
36:70play_arrow
Liyunzira man kaana haiyanw-wa yahiqqal qawlu ‘alal-kaafireen
Sahih International:
To warn whoever is alive and justify the word against the disbelievers.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُم مِّمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَآ أَنْعَـٰمًۭا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَـٰلِكُونَ
36:71play_arrow
Awalam yaraw annaa khalaqnaa lahum mimmaa ‘amilat aideenaaa an’aaman fahum lahaa maalikoon
Sahih International:
Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?

وَذَلَّلْنَـٰهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ
36:72play_arrow
Wa zallalnaahaa lahum faminhaa rakoobuhum wa minhaa ya’kuloon
Sahih International:
And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ
36:73play_arrow
Wa lahum feehaa manaa fi’u wa mashaarib; afalaa yashkuroon
Sahih International:
And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةًۭ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
36:74play_arrow
Wattakhazoo min doonil laahi aalihatal la’allahum yunsaroon
Sahih International:
But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّحْضَرُونَ
36:75play_arrow
Laa yastatee’oona nasrahum wa hum lahum jundum muhdaroon
Sahih International:
They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.

فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ
36:76play_arrow
Falaa yahzunka qawluhum; innaa na’lamu maa yusirroona wa maa yu’linoon
Sahih International:
So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
36:77play_arrow
Awalam yaral insaanu annaa khalaqnaahu min nutfatin fa-izaa huwa khaseemum mubeen
Sahih International:
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop – then at once he is a clear adversary?

وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًۭا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَـٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌۭ
36:78play_arrow
Wa daraba lanaa maslanw-wa nasiya khalqahoo qaala mai-yuhyil’izaama wa hiya rameem
Sahih International:
And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, “Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?”

قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَهَآ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ
36:79play_arrow
Qul yuh yeehal lazeee ansha ahaaa awwala marrah; wa Huwa bikulli khalqin ‘Aleem
Sahih International:
Say, “He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing.”

ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ ٱلْأَخْضَرِ نَارًۭا فَإِذَآ أَنتُم مِّنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ
36:80play_arrow
Allazee ja’ala lakum minash shajaril akhdari naaran fa-izaaa antum minhu tooqidoon
Sahih International:
[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

أَوَلَيْسَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُم ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ ٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
36:81play_arrow
Awa laisal lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda biqaadirin ‘alaaa ai-yakhluqa mislahum; balaa wa Huwal Khallaaqul ‘Aleem
Sahih International:
Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.

إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ
36:82play_arrow
Innamaa amruhooo izaaa araada shai’an ai-yaqoola lahoo kun fa-yakoon
Sahih International:
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, “Be,” and it is.

فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
36:83play_arrow
Fa Subhaanal lazee biyadihee malakootu kulli shai-inw-wa ilaihi turja’oon
Sahih International:
So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
37:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفًّۭا
37:1play_arrow
Wassaaaffaati saffaa
Sahih International:
By those [angels] lined up in rows

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا
37:2play_arrow
Fazzaajiraati zajraa
Sahih International:
And those who drive [the clouds]

فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا
37:3play_arrow
Fattaaliyaati Zikra
Sahih International:
And those who recite the message,

إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌۭ
37:4play_arrow
Inna Illaahakum la Waahid
Sahih International:
Indeed, your God is One,

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ
37:5play_arrow
Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq
Sahih International:
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ
37:6play_arrow
Innaa zaiyannas samaaa ‘ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ
37:7play_arrow
Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid
Sahih International:
And as protection against every rebellious devil

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ
37:8play_arrow
Laa yassamma ‘oona ilal mala ‘il a’alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib
Sahih International:
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,

دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ
37:9play_arrow
Duhooranw wa lahum ‘azaabunw waasib
Sahih International:
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ
37:10play_arrow
Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba’ahoo shihaabun saaqib
Sahih International:
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ
37:11play_arrow
Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib
Sahih International:
Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], “Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?” Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ
37:12play_arrow
Bal’ajibta wa yaskharoon
Sahih International:
But you wonder, while they mock,

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ
37:13play_arrow
Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon
Sahih International:
And when they are reminded, they remember not.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ
37:14play_arrow
Wa izaa ra aw Aayatany yastaskhiroon
Sahih International:
And when they see a sign, they ridicule

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ
37:15play_arrow
Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen
Sahih International:
And say, “This is not but obvious magic.

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
37:16play_arrow
‘A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa ‘izaaman ‘a innaa lamab’oosoon
Sahih International:
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
37:17play_arrow
Awa aabaa’unal awwaloon
Sahih International:
And our forefathers [as well]?”

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ
37:18play_arrow
Qul na’am wa antum daakhiroon
Sahih International:
Say, “Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible.”

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ
37:19play_arrow
Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon
Sahih International:
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.

وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
37:20play_arrow
Wa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen
Sahih International:
They will say, “O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense.”

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
37:21play_arrow
Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon (section 1)
Sahih International:
[They will be told], “This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny.”

ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ
37:22play_arrow
Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya’budoon
Sahih International:
[The angels will be ordered], “Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:23play_arrow
Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem
Sahih International:
Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ
37:24play_arrow
Wa qifoohum innahum mas’ooloon
Sahih International:
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned.”

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ
37:25play_arrow
Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon
Sahih International:
[They will be asked], “What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?”

بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ
37:26play_arrow
Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon
Sahih International:
But they, that Day, are in surrender.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:27play_arrow
Wa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa ba’diny yatasaaa’aloon
Sahih International:
And they will approach one another blaming each other.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
37:28play_arrow
Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa ‘anil yameen
Sahih International:
They will say, “Indeed, you used to come at us from the right.”

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ
37:29play_arrow
Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu’mineen
Sahih International:
The oppressors will say, “Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَـٰغِينَ
37:30play_arrow
Wa maa kaana lanaa ‘alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen
Sahih International:
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ
37:31play_arrow
Fahaqqa ‘alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa’iqoon
Sahih International:
So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].

فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ
37:32play_arrow
Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween
Sahih International:
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators.”

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ
37:33play_arrow
Fa innahum Yawma’izin fil’azaabi mushtarikoon
Sahih International:
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
37:34play_arrow
Innaa kazaalika naf’alu bil mujrimeen
Sahih International:
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
37:35play_arrow
Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon
Sahih International:
Indeed they, when it was said to them, “There is no deity but Allah,” were arrogant

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ
37:36play_arrow
Wa yaqooloona a’innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa’irim majnoon
Sahih International:
And were saying, “Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?”

بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:37play_arrow
bal jaaa’a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen
Sahih International:
Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ
37:38play_arrow
Innakum lazaaa’iqul ‘azaabil aleem
Sahih International:
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
37:39play_arrow
Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta’maloon
Sahih International:
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do –

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:40play_arrow
Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
Sahih International:
But not the chosen servants of Allah.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ
37:41play_arrow
Ulaaa’ika lahum rizqum ma’loom
Sahih International:
Those will have a provision determined –

فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
37:42play_arrow
Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon
Sahih International:
Fruits; and they will be honored

فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
37:43play_arrow
Fee jannaatin Na’eem
Sahih International:
In gardens of pleasure

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
37:44play_arrow
‘Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen
Sahih International:
On thrones facing one another.

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ
37:45play_arrow
Yutaafu ‘alaihim bikaasim mim ma’een
Sahih International:
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,

بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ
37:46play_arrow
Baidaaa’a laz zatil lish shaaribeen
Sahih International:
White and delicious to the drinkers;

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
37:47play_arrow
Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum ‘anhaa yunzafoon
Sahih International:
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.

وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ
37:48play_arrow
Wa ‘indahum qaasiraatut tarfi ‘een
Sahih International:
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ
37:49play_arrow
Ka annahunna baidum maknoon
Sahih International:
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
37:50play_arrow
Fa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa badiny yatasaaa ‘aloon
Sahih International:
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ
37:51play_arrow
Qaala qaaa’ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen
Sahih International:
A speaker among them will say, “Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ
37:52play_arrow
Yaqoolu ‘a innaka laminal musaddiqeen
Sahih International:
Who would say, ‘Are you indeed of those who believe

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
37:53play_arrow
‘A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa ‘izaaman ‘a innaa lamadeenoon
Sahih International:
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'”

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ
37:54play_arrow
Qaala hal antum muttali’oon
Sahih International:
He will say, “Would you [care to] look?”

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:55play_arrow
Fattala’a fara aahu fee sawaaa’il Jaheem
Sahih International:
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ
37:56play_arrow
Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen
Sahih International:
He will say, “By Allah, you almost ruined me.

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
37:57play_arrow
Wa law laa ni’matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen
Sahih International:
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ
37:58play_arrow
Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen
Sahih International:
Then, are we not to die

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
37:59play_arrow
Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu’azzabeen
Sahih International:
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?”

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
37:60play_arrow
Inna haazaa lahuwal fawzul ‘azeem
Sahih International:
Indeed, this is the great attainment.

لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ
37:61play_arrow
Limisli haaza falya’ma lil ‘aamiloon
Sahih International:
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
37:62play_arrow
Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqoom
Sahih International:
Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
37:63play_arrow
Innaa ja’alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:64play_arrow
Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem
Sahih International:
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ
37:65play_arrow
Tal’uhaa ka annahoo ru’oosush Shayaateen
Sahih International:
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
37:66play_arrow
Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali’oona minhal butoon
Sahih International:
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ
37:67play_arrow
Summa inna lahum ‘alaihaa lashawbam min hameem
Sahih International:
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:68play_arrow
Summa inna marji’ahum la ilal Jaheem
Sahih International:
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ
37:69play_arrow
Innahum alfaw aabaaa’ahum daaalleen
Sahih International:
Indeed they found their fathers astray.

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ
37:70play_arrow
Fahum ‘alaa aasaarihim yuhra’oon
Sahih International:
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:71play_arrow
Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen
Sahih International:
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
37:72play_arrow
Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen
Sahih International:
And We had already sent among them warners.

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:73play_arrow
Fanzur kaifa kaana ‘aaqibatul munzareen
Sahih International:
Then look how was the end of those who were warned –

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:74play_arrow
Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen (section 2)
Sahih International:
But not the chosen servants of Allah.

وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ
37:75play_arrow
Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani’mal mujeeboon
Sahih International:
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:76play_arrow
Wa najjainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil ‘azeem
Sahih International:
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ
37:77play_arrow
Wa ja’alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen
Sahih International:
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:78play_arrow
Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen
Sahih International:
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:79play_arrow
Salaamun ‘alaa Noohin fil ‘aalameen
Sahih International:
“Peace upon Noah among the worlds.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:80play_arrow
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:81play_arrow
Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:82play_arrow
Summa aghraqnal aakhareen
Sahih International:
Then We drowned the disbelievers.

وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:83play_arrow
Wa inna min shee’atihee la Ibraaheem
Sahih International:
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,

إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ
37:84play_arrow
Iz jaaa’a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem
Sahih International:
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:85play_arrow
Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta’budoon
Sahih International:
[And] when he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?

أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ
37:86play_arrow
A’ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon
Sahih International:
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:87play_arrow
Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil’aalameen
Sahih International:
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?”

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ
37:88play_arrow
Fanazara nazratan finnujoom
Sahih International:
And he cast a look at the stars

فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ
37:89play_arrow
Faqaala innee saqeem
Sahih International:
And said, “Indeed, I am [about to be] ill.”

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ
37:90play_arrow
Fatawallaw ‘anhu mudbireen
Sahih International:
So they turned away from him, departing.

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ
37:91play_arrow
Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon
Sahih International:
Then he turned to their gods and said, “Do you not eat?

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ
37:92play_arrow
Maa lakum laa tantiqoon
Sahih International:
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?”

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ
37:93play_arrow
Faraagha ‘alaihim darbam bilyameen
Sahih International:
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ
37:94play_arrow
Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon
Sahih International:
Then the people came toward him, hastening.

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ
37:95play_arrow
Qaala ata’budoona maa tanhitoon
Sahih International:
He said, “Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
37:96play_arrow
Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta’maloon
Sahih International:
While Allah created you and that which you do?”

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:97play_arrow
Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem
Sahih International:
They said, “Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire.”

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ
37:98play_arrow
Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja ‘alnaahumul asfaleen
Sahih International:
And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.

وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ
37:99play_arrow
Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen
Sahih International:
And [then] he said, “Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:100play_arrow
Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen
Sahih International:
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.”

فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ
37:101play_arrow
Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem
Sahih International:
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
37:102play_arrow
Falamma balagha ma’a hus sa’ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif ‘al maa tu’maru satajidunee in shaaa’allaahu minas saabireen
Sahih International:
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, “O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think.” He said, “O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast.”

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ
37:103play_arrow
Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen
Sahih International:
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,

وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
37:104play_arrow
Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem
Sahih International:
We called to him, “O Abraham,

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:105play_arrow
Qad saddaqtar ru’yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
Sahih International:
You have fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ
37:106play_arrow
Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa’ul mubeen
Sahih International:
Indeed, this was the clear trial.

وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍۢ
37:107play_arrow
Wa fadainaahu bizibhin ‘azeem
Sahih International:
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:108play_arrow
Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen
Sahih International:
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
37:109play_arrow
Salaamun ‘alaaa Ibraaheem
Sahih International:
“Peace upon Abraham.”

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:110play_arrow
Kazaalika najzil muhsineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:111play_arrow
Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
37:112play_arrow
Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyam minas saaliheen
Sahih International:
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.

وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ
37:113play_arrow
Wa baaraknaa ‘alaihi wa ‘alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafsihee mubeen (section 3)
Sahih International:
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:114play_arrow
Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
Sahih International:
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
37:115play_arrow
Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil ‘azeem
Sahih International:
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ
37:116play_arrow
Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen
Sahih International:
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ
37:117play_arrow
Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen
Sahih International:
And We gave them the explicit Scripture,

وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
37:118play_arrow
Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem
Sahih International:
And We guided them on the straight path.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:119play_arrow
Wa taraknaa ‘alaihimaa fil aakhireen
Sahih International:
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ
37:120play_arrow
Salaamun ‘alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
Sahih International:
“Peace upon Moses and Aaron.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:121play_arrow
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:122play_arrow
Innahumaa min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:123play_arrow
Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen
Sahih International:
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
37:124play_arrow
Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon
Sahih International:
When he said to his people, “Will you not fear Allah?

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ
37:125play_arrow
Atad’oona Ba’lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen
Sahih International:
Do you call upon Ba’l and leave the best of creators –

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:126play_arrow
Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa’ikumul awwaleen
Sahih International:
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?”

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:127play_arrow
Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon
Sahih International:
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:128play_arrow
Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
Sahih International:
Except the chosen servants of Allah.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
37:129play_arrow
Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen
Sahih International:
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
37:130play_arrow
Salaamun ‘alaaa Ilyaaseen
Sahih International:
“Peace upon Elias.”

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
37:131play_arrow
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
37:132play_arrow
Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen
Sahih International:
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

وَإِنَّ لُوطًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:133play_arrow
Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen
Sahih International:
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ
37:134play_arrow
Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma’een
Sahih International:
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,

إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ
37:135play_arrow
Illaa ‘ajoozan fil ghaabireen
Sahih International:
Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers].

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ
37:136play_arrow
Summa dammarnal aakhareen
Sahih International:
Then We destroyed the others.

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ
37:137play_arrow
Wa innakum latamurroona ‘alaihim musbiheen
Sahih International:
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
37:138play_arrow
Wa billail; afalaa ta’qiloon (section 4)
Sahih International:
And at night. Then will you not use reason?

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:139play_arrow
Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen
Sahih International:
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
37:140play_arrow
Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon
Sahih International:
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ
37:141play_arrow
Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen
Sahih International:
And he drew lots and was among the losers.

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ
37:142play_arrow
Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem
Sahih International:
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ
37:143play_arrow
Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen
Sahih International:
And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,

لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
37:144play_arrow
Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub’asoon
Sahih International:
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.

فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ
37:145play_arrow
Fanabaznaahu bil’araaa’i wa huwa saqeem
Sahih International:
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.

وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ
37:146play_arrow
Wa ambatnaa ‘alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen
Sahih International:
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.

وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ
37:147play_arrow
Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi’ati alfin aw yazeedoon
Sahih International:
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ
37:148play_arrow
Fa aamanoo famatta’ naahum ilaa heen
Sahih International:
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
37:149play_arrow
Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon
Sahih International:
So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], “Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ
37:150play_arrow
Am khalaqnal malaaa’i kata inaasanw wa hum shaahidoon
Sahih International:
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?”

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:151play_arrow
Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon
Sahih International:
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
37:152play_arrow
Waladal laahu wa innahum lakaaziboon
Sahih International:
” Allah has begotten,” and indeed, they are liars.

أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ
37:153play_arrow
Astafal banaati ‘alal baneen
Sahih International:
Has He chosen daughters over sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
37:154play_arrow
Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon
Sahih International:
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
37:155play_arrow
Afalaa tazakkaroon
Sahih International:
Then will you not be reminded?

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
37:156play_arrow
Am lakum sultaanum mubeen
Sahih International:
Or do you have a clear authority?

فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
37:157play_arrow
Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen
Sahih International:
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ
37:158play_arrow
Wa ja’aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad ‘alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon
Sahih International:
And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].

سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:159play_arrow
Subhaanal laahi ‘ammaa yasifoon
Sahih International:
Exalted is Allah above what they describe,

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:160play_arrow
Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
Sahih International:
Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ
37:161play_arrow
Fa innakum wa maa ta’budoon
Sahih International:
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,

مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَـٰتِنِينَ
37:162play_arrow
Maaa antum ‘alaihi bi faaatineen
Sahih International:
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
37:163play_arrow
Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem
Sahih International:
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ
37:164play_arrow
Wa maa minnaaa illaa lahoo maqaamun ma’loom
Sahih International:
[The angels say], “There is not among us any except that he has a known position.

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ
37:165play_arrow
Wa innaa lanah nus saaffoon
Sahih International:
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ
37:166play_arrow
Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon
Sahih International:
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah.”

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ
37:167play_arrow
Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon
Sahih International:
And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
37:168play_arrow
Law anna ‘indanaa zikram minal awwaleen
Sahih International:
“If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
37:169play_arrow
Lakunna ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
Sahih International:
We would have been the chosen servants of Allah.”

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
37:170play_arrow
Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:171play_arrow
Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li’ibaadinal mursa leen
Sahih International:
And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ
37:172play_arrow
Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon
Sahih International:
[That] indeed, they would be those given victory

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
37:173play_arrow
Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon
Sahih International:
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ
37:174play_arrow
Fatawalla ‘anhum hatta heen
Sahih International:
So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time.

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:175play_arrow
Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon
Sahih International:
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
37:176play_arrow
Afabi’azaabinaa yasta’jiloon
Sahih International:
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ
37:177play_arrow
Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa’a sabaahul munzareen
Sahih International:
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ
37:178play_arrow
Wa tawalla ‘anhum hattaa heen
Sahih International:
And leave them for a time.

وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ
37:179play_arrow
Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon
Sahih International:
And see, for they are going to see.

سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
37:180play_arrow
Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon
Sahih International:
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
37:181play_arrow
Wa salaamun ‘alalmursaleen
Sahih International:
And peace upon the messengers.

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
37:182play_arrow
Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen (section 5)
Sahih International:
And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

صٓ ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ذِى ٱلذِّكْرِ
38:1play_arrow
Saaad; wal-Qur-aani ziz zikr
Sahih International:
Sad. By the Qur’an containing reminder…

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى عِزَّةٍۢ وَشِقَاقٍۢ
38:2play_arrow
Balil lazeena kafaroo fee ‘izzatinw wa shiqaaq
Sahih International:
But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension.

كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍۢ فَنَادَوا۟ وَّلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍۢ
38:3play_arrow
Kam ahlaknaa min qablihim min qarnin fanaadaw wa laata heena manaas
Sahih International:
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.

وَعَجِبُوٓا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا سَـٰحِرٌۭ كَذَّابٌ
38:4play_arrow
Wa ‘ajibooo an jaaa’a hum munzirum minhum wa qaalal kaafiroona haazaa saahirun kazzaab
Sahih International:
And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, “This is a magician and a liar.

أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًۭا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌۭ
38:5play_arrow
Aja’alal aalihata Ilaahanw Waahidan inna haazaa lashai’un ‘ujaab
Sahih International:
Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing.”

وَٱنطَلَقَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ ٱمْشُوا۟ وَٱصْبِرُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌۭ يُرَادُ
38:6play_arrow
Wantalaqal mala-u minhum anim shoo wasbiroo ‘alaaa aalihatikum innna haazaa lashai ‘uny yuraad
Sahih International:
And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], “Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended.

مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِى ٱلْمِلَّةِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا ٱخْتِلَـٰقٌ
38:7play_arrow
Maa sami’naa bihaazaa fil millatil aakhirati in haazaaa illakh tilaaq
Sahih International:
We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication.

أَءُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ٱلذِّكْرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ مِّن ذِكْرِى ۖ بَل لَّمَّا يَذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابِ
38:8play_arrow
‘A-unzila ‘alaihiz zikru min baininaa; bal hum fee shakkin min Zikree bal lammaa yazooqoo ‘azaab
Sahih International:
Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?” Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment.

أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْوَهَّابِ
38:9play_arrow
Am’indahum khazaaa ‘inu rahmati Rabbikal ‘Azeezil Wahhab
Sahih International:
Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower?

أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ
38:10play_arrow
Am lahum mulkus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa falyartaqoo fil asbaab
Sahih International:
Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access.

جُندٌۭ مَّا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ
38:11play_arrow
Jundum maa hunaalika mahzoomum minal Ahzaab
Sahih International:
[They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers].

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ وَعَادٌۭ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
38:12play_arrow
Kazzabat qablahum qawmu Noohinw wa ‘Aadunw wa Fir’awnu zul awtaad
Sahih International:
The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] ‘Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes,

وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍۢ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ
38:13play_arrow
Wa Samoodu wa qawmu Lootinw wa Ashaabul ‘Aykah; ulaaa’ikal Ahzaab
Sahih International:
And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket. Those are the companies.

إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ
38:14play_arrow
In kullun illaa kazzabar Rusula fahaqqa ‘iqaab (section 1)
Sahih International:
Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified.

وَمَا يَنظُرُ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ مَّا لَهَا مِن فَوَاقٍۢ
38:15play_arrow
Wa maa yanzuru haaa ulaaa’i illaa saihatanw waahidatam maa lahaa min fawaaq
Sahih International:
And these [disbelievers] await not but one blast [of the Horn]; for it there will be no delay.

وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا عَجِّل لَّنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:16play_arrow
Wa qaaloo Rabbanaa ‘ajjil lanaa qittanaa qabla Yawmil Hisaab
Sahih International:
And they say, “Our Lord, hasten for us our share [of the punishment] before the Day of Account”

ٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُۥدَ ذَا ٱلْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:17play_arrow
Isbir ‘alaa maa yaqooloona wazkur ‘abdanaa Daawooda zal aidi innahooo awwaab
Sahih International:
Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allah].

إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا ٱلْجِبَالَ مَعَهُۥ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِشْرَاقِ
38:18play_arrow
Innaa sakhkharnal jibaala ma’ahoo yusabbihna bil’ashiyyi wal ishraaq
Sahih International:
Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in the [late] afternoon and [after] sunrise.

وَٱلطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةًۭ ۖ كُلٌّۭ لَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌۭ
38:19play_arrow
Wattayra mahshoorah; kullul lahooo awwaab
Sahih International:
And the birds were assembled, all with him repeating [praises].

وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُۥ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:20play_arrow
Wa shadadnaa mulkahoo wa aatainaahul Hikmata wa faslal khitaab
Sahih International:
And We strengthened his kingdom and gave him wisdom and discernment in speech.

وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا۟ ٱلْمِحْرَابَ
38:21play_arrow
Wa hal ataaka naba’ul khasm; iz tasawwarul mihraab
Sahih International:
And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber –

إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ دَاوُۥدَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَٱهْدِنَآ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ
38:22play_arrow
Iz dakhaloo ‘alaa Daawooda fafazi’a minhum qaaloo laa takhaf khasmaani baghaa ba’dunaa ‘alaa ba’din fahkum bainanaaa bilhaqqi wa laa tushtit wahdinaaa ilaa Sawaaa’is Siraat
Sahih International:
When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, “Fear not. [We are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَآ أَخِى لَهُۥ تِسْعٌۭ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةًۭ وَلِىَ نَعْجَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِى فِى ٱلْخِطَابِ
38:23play_arrow
Inna haazaaa akhee lahoo tis’unw wa tis’oona na’jatanw wa liya na’jatunw waahidah; faqaala akfilneeha wa ‘azzanee filkhitaab
Sahih International:
Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, ‘Entrust her to me,’ and he overpowered me in speech.”

قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِۦ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْخُلَطَآءِ لَيَبْغِى بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَقَلِيلٌۭ مَّا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُۥدُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّـٰهُ فَٱسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُۥ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًۭا وَأَنَابَ
38:24play_arrow
Qaala laqad zalamaka bisu ‘aali na’jatika ilaa ni’aajih; wa inna kaseeran minal khulataaa’i la-yabghee ba’duhum ‘alaa ba’din illal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati wa qaleelun maa hum; wa zanna Daawoodu annamaa fatannaahu fastaghfara Rabbahoo wa kharra raaki’anw wa anaab (make sajdah)
Sahih International:
[David] said, “He has certainly wronged you in demanding your ewe [in addition] to his ewes. And indeed, many associates oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds – and few are they.” And David became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allah].

فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُۥ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍۢ
38:25play_arrow
Faghafarnaa lahoo zaalik; wa inna lahoo ‘indanaa lazulfaa wa husna ma aab
Sahih International:
So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.

يَـٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ خَلِيفَةًۭ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:26play_arrow
Yaa Daawoodu innaa ja’alnaaka khaleefatan fil ardi fahkum bainan naasi bilhaqqi wa laa tattabi’il hawaa fayudillaka ‘an sabeelil laah; innal lazeena yadilloona ‘an sabeelil laah; lahum ‘azaabun shadeedum bimaa nasoo Yawmal Hisaab (section 2)
Sahih International:
[We said], “O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allah.” Indeed, those who go astray from the way of Allah will have a severe punishment for having forgotten the Day of Account.

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَـٰطِلًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ
38:27play_arrow
Wa maa khalaqnas samaaa’a wal arda wa maa bainahumaa baatilaa; zaalika zannul lazeena kafaroo; fa waylul lil lazeena kafaroo minan Naar
Sahih International:
And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire.

أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ كَٱلْفُجَّارِ
38:28play_arrow
Am naj’alul lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati kalmufisdeena fil ardi am naj’alul muttaqeena kalfujjaar
Sahih International:
Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked?

كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَـٰرَكٌۭ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:29play_arrow
Kitaabun anzalnaahu ilaika mubaarakul liyaddabbarooo Aayaatihee wa liyatazakkara ulul albaab
Sahih International:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.

وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُۥدَ سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌ
38:30play_arrow
Wa wahabnaa li Daawooda Sulaimaan; ni’mal ‘abd; innahoo awwaab
Sahih International:
And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah].

إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ ٱلصَّـٰفِنَـٰتُ ٱلْجِيَادُ
38:31play_arrow
Iz ‘urida ‘alaihi bil’ashiy yis saafinaatul jiyaad
Sahih International:
[Mention] when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised [standing] racehorses.

فَقَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ ٱلْخَيْرِ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّى حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِٱلْحِجَابِ
38:32play_arrow
Faqaala inneee ahbabtu hubbal khairi ‘an zikri Rabbee hattaa tawaarat bilhijaab
Sahih International:
And he said, “Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness].”

رُدُّوهَا عَلَىَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ
38:33play_arrow
Ruddoohaa ‘alaiya fa tafiqa mas-ham bissooqi wal a’naaq
Sahih International:
[He said], “Return them to me,” and set about striking [their] legs and necks.

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِۦ جَسَدًۭا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ
38:34play_arrow
Wa laqad fatannaa Sulaimaana wa alqainaa ‘alaa kursiyyihee jasadan summa anaab
Sahih International:
And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned.

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَهَبْ لِى مُلْكًۭا لَّا يَنۢبَغِى لِأَحَدٍۢ مِّنۢ بَعْدِىٓ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
38:35play_arrow
Qaala Rabbigh fir lee wa hab lee mulkal laa yambaghee li ahadin min ba’dee innaka Antal Wahhaab
Sahih International:
He said, “My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”

فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ ٱلرِّيحَ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦ رُخَآءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ
38:36play_arrow
Fa sakharnaa lahur reeha tajree bi amrihee rukhaaa’an haisu asaab
Sahih International:
So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed,

وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍۢ وَغَوَّاصٍۢ
38:37play_arrow
Wash Shayaateena kulla bannaaa’inw wa ghawwaas
Sahih International:
And [also] the devils [of jinn] – every builder and diver

وَءَاخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِى ٱلْأَصْفَادِ
38:38play_arrow
Wa aakhareena muqarraneena fil asfaad
Sahih International:
And others bound together in shackles.

هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ
38:39play_arrow
Haazaa ‘ataaa’unaa famnun aw amsik bighairi hisaab
Sahih International:
[We said], “This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account.”

وَإِنَّ لَهُۥ عِندَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍۢ
38:40play_arrow
Wa inna lahoo ‘indanaa lazulfaa wa husna ma-aab (section 3)
Sahih International:
And indeed, for him is nearness to Us and a good place of return.

وَٱذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَآ أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بِنُصْبٍۢ وَعَذَابٍ
38:41play_arrow
Wazkur ‘abdanaaa Ayyoob; iz naada Rabbahooo annee massaniyash Shaitaanu bi nusbinw wa ‘azaab
Sahih International:
And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, “Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment.”

ٱرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَـٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌۢ بَارِدٌۭ وَشَرَابٌۭ
38:42play_arrow
Urkud bi rijlika haaza mughtasalun baaridunw wa sharaab
Sahih International:
[So he was told], “Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink.”

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
38:43play_arrow
Wa wahabnaa lahoo ahlahoo wa mislahum ma’ahum rahmatan minna wa zikraa li ulil albaab
Sahih International:
And We granted him his family and a like [number] with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for those of understanding.

وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًۭا فَٱضْرِب بِّهِۦ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَـٰهُ صَابِرًۭا ۚ نِّعْمَ ٱلْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَوَّابٌۭ
38:44play_arrow
Wa khuz biyadika dighsan fadrib bihee wa laa tahnas, innaa wajadnaahu saabiraa; ni’mal ‘abd; innahooo awwaab
Sahih International:
[We said], “And take in your hand a bunch [of grass] and strike with it and do not break your oath.” Indeed, We found him patient, an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah].

وَٱذْكُرْ عِبَـٰدَنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُو۟لِى ٱلْأَيْدِى وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
38:45play_arrow
Wazkur ‘ibaadanaaa Ibraaheema wa Is-haaqa wa Ya’qooba ulil-aydee walabsaar
Sahih International:
And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – those of strength and [religious] vision.

إِنَّآ أَخْلَصْنَـٰهُم بِخَالِصَةٍۢ ذِكْرَى ٱلدَّارِ
38:46play_arrow
Innaaa akhlasnaahum bi khaalisatin zikrad daar
Sahih International:
Indeed, We chose them for an exclusive quality: remembrance of the home [of the Hereafter].

وَإِنَّهُمْ عِندَنَا لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:47play_arrow
Wa innahum ‘indanaa laminal mustafainal akhyaar
Sahih International:
And indeed they are, to Us, among the chosen and outstanding.

وَٱذْكُرْ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَٱلْيَسَعَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَخْيَارِ
38:48play_arrow
Wazkur Ismaa’eela wal Yasa’a wa Zal-Kifli wa kullun minal akhyaar
Sahih International:
And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding.

هَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌۭ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَـَٔابٍۢ
38:49play_arrow
Haazaa zikrun wa inna lil muttaqeena la husna ma aab
Sahih International:
This is a reminder. And indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return

جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍۢ مُّفَتَّحَةًۭ لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ
38:50play_arrow
Jannaati ‘adnin mufattahatan lahumul abwaab
Sahih International:
Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them.

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ وَشَرَابٍۢ
38:51play_arrow
Muttaki’eena feehaa yad’oona feehaa bifaakihatin kaseeratinw wa sharaab
Sahih International:
Reclining within them, they will call therein for abundant fruit and drink.

وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ
38:52play_arrow
Wa ‘indahum qaasiraatut tarfi atraab
Sahih International:
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances and of equal age.

هَـٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ
38:53play_arrow
Haazaa maa too’adoona li Yawmil Hisaab
Sahih International:
This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ
38:54play_arrow
Inna haazaa larizqunaa maa lahoo min nafaad
Sahih International:
Indeed, this is Our provision; for it there is no depletion.

هَـٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّـٰغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَـَٔابٍۢ
38:55play_arrow
Haazaa; wa inna littaagheena lasharra ma-aab
Sahih International:
This [is so]. But indeed, for the transgressors is an evil place of return –

جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
38:56play_arrow
Jahannama yaslawnahaa fa bi’sal mihaad
Sahih International:
Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the resting place.

هَـٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌۭ وَغَسَّاقٌۭ
38:57play_arrow
Haazaa falyazooqoohu hameemunw wa ghassaaq
Sahih International:
This – so let them taste it – is scalding water and [foul] purulence.

وَءَاخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجٌ
38:58play_arrow
Wa aakharu min shakliheee azwaaj
Sahih International:
And other [punishments] of its type [in various] kinds.

هَـٰذَا فَوْجٌۭ مُّقْتَحِمٌۭ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُوا۟ ٱلنَّارِ
38:59play_arrow
Haazaa fawjun muqtahimun ma’akum laa marhaban bihim; innahum saalun Naar
Sahih International:
[Its inhabitants will say], “This is a company bursting in with you. No welcome for them. Indeed, they will burn in the Fire.”

قَالُوا۟ بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًۢا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ ٱلْقَرَارُ
38:60play_arrow
Qaaloo bal antum laa marhaban bikum; antum qaddamtumoohu lanaa fabi’sal qaraar
Sahih International:
They will say, “Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement.”

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَـٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًۭا ضِعْفًۭا فِى ٱلنَّارِ
38:61play_arrow
Qaaloo Rabbanaa man qaddama lanaa haazaa fa zidhu ‘azaaban di’fan fin Naar
Sahih International:
They will say, “Our Lord, whoever brought this upon us – increase for him double punishment in the Fire.”

وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًۭا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ
38:62play_arrow
Wa qaaloo maa lanaa laa naraa rijaalan kunnaa na’udduhum minal ashraar
Sahih International:
And they will say, “Why do we not see men whom we used to count among the worst?

أَتَّخَذْنَـٰهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ
38:63play_arrow
Attakhaznaahum sikh riyyan am zaaghat ‘anhumul absaar
Sahih International:
Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?”

إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّۭ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ ٱلنَّارِ
38:64play_arrow
Inna zaalika lahaqqun takhaasumu Ahlin Naar (section 4)
Sahih International:
Indeed, that is truth – the quarreling of the people of the Fire.

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ مُنذِرٌۭ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
38:65play_arrow
Qul innamaaa ana munzirunw wa maa min laahin illal laahul Waahidul Qahhaar
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “I am only a warner, and there is not any deity except Allah, the One, the Prevailing.

رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ
38:66play_arrow
Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumal ‘Azeezul Ghaffaar
Sahih International:
Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.”

قُلْ هُوَ نَبَؤٌا۟ عَظِيمٌ
38:67play_arrow
Qul huwa naba’un ‘azeem
Sahih International:
Say, “It is great news

أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ
38:68play_arrow
Antum ‘anhu mu’ridoon
Sahih International:
From which you turn away.

مَا كَانَ لِىَ مِنْ عِلْمٍۭ بِٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ
38:69play_arrow
Maa kaana liya min ‘ilmin bil mala’il a’laaa iz yakhtasimoon
Sahih International:
I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [of angels] when they were disputing [the creation of Adam].

إِن يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ إِلَّآ أَنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ
38:70play_arrow
Iny-yoohaaa ilaiya illaaa anna maaa ana nazeerun mubeen
Sahih International:
It has not been revealed to me except that I am a clear warner.”

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّى خَـٰلِقٌۢ بَشَرًۭا مِّن طِينٍۢ
38:71play_arrow
Iz qaala Rabbuka lilmalaaa’ikati innee khaaliqun basharan min teen
Sahih International:
[So mention] when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I am going to create a human being from clay.

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ
38:72play_arrow
Fa-iza sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa’oo lahoo saajideen
Sahih International:
So when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration.”

فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
38:73play_arrow
Fasajadal malaaa’ikatu kulluhum ajma’oon
Sahih International:
So the angels prostrated – all of them entirely.

إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ ٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
38:74play_arrow
Illaaa Iblees; stakbara wa kaana minal kaafireen
Sahih International:
Except Iblees; he was arrogant and became among the disbelievers.

قَالَ يَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَىَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلْعَالِينَ
38:75play_arrow
Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa mana’aka an tasjuda limaa khalaqtu bi yadaiya ‘a stakbarta am kunta min al ‘aaleen
Sahih International:
[Allah] said, “O Iblees, what prevented you from prostrating to that which I created with My hands? Were you arrogant [then], or were you [already] among the haughty?”

قَالَ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِى مِن نَّارٍۢ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٍۢ
38:76play_arrow
Qaala ana khairum minhu; khalaqtanee min naarinw wa khalaqtahoo min teen
Sahih International:
He said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.”

قَالَ فَٱخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌۭ
38:77play_arrow
Qaala fakhruj minhaa fa innaka rajeem
Sahih International:
[Allah] said, “Then get out of Paradise, for indeed, you are expelled.

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
38:78play_arrow
Wa inna ‘alaika la’nateee ilaa Yawmid Deen
Sahih International:
And indeed, upon you is My curse until the Day of Recompense.”

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
38:79play_arrow
Qaala Rabbi fa anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub’asoon
Sahih International:
He said, “My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.”

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنظَرِينَ
38:80play_arrow
Qaala fa innaka minal munzareen
Sahih International:
[Allah] said, “So indeed, you are of those reprieved

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْوَقْتِ ٱلْمَعْلُومِ
38:81play_arrow
Ilaa Yawmil waqtil ma’loom
Sahih International:
Until the Day of the time well-known.”

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:82play_arrow
Qaala fa bi ‘izzatika la ughwiyannahum ajma’een
Sahih International:
[Iblees] said, “By your might, I will surely mislead them all

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ
38:83play_arrow
Illaa ‘ibaadaka minhumul mukhlaseen
Sahih International:
Except, among them, Your chosen servants.”

قَالَ فَٱلْحَقُّ وَٱلْحَقَّ أَقُولُ
38:84play_arrow
Qaala falhaqq, walhaqqa aqool
Sahih International:
[Allah] said, “The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say –

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
38:85play_arrow
La amla’anna Jahannama minka wa mimman tabi’aka minhum ajma’een
Sahih International:
[That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together.”

قُلْ مَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍۢ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ
38:86play_arrow
Qul maaa as’alukum ‘alaihi min ajrinw wa maaa ana minal mutakallifeen
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “I do not ask you for the Qur’an any payment, and I am not of the pretentious

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
38:87play_arrow
In huwa illaa zikrul lil’aalameen
Sahih International:
It is but a reminder to the worlds.

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُۥ بَعْدَ حِينٍۭ
38:88play_arrow
Wa lata’lamunna naba ahoo ba’da heen (section 5)
Sahih International:
And you will surely know [the truth of] its information after a time.”

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
39:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ
39:1play_arrow
Tanzeelul Kitaabi minal laahil ‘Azeezil Hakeem
Sahih International:
The revelation of the Qur’an is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَٱعْبُدِ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًۭا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ
39:2play_arrow
Innaaa anzalnaaa ilaikal Kitaaba bilhaqqi fa’budil laaha mukhlisal lahud deen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book, [O Muhammad], in truth. So worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

أَلَا لِلَّهِ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْخَالِصُ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مَا نَعْبُدُهُمْ إِلَّا لِيُقَرِّبُونَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ زُلْفَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِى مَا هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ كَـٰذِبٌۭ كَفَّارٌۭ
39:3play_arrow
Alaa lillaahid deenul khaalis; wallazeenat takhazoo min dooniheee awliyaaa’a maa na’buduhum illaa liyuqar riboonaaa ilal laahi zulfaa; innal laaha yahkumu baina hum fee maa hum feehi yakhtalifoon; innal laaha laa yahdee man huwa kaazibun kaffaar
Sahih International:
Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], “We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position.” Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.

لَّوْ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًۭا لَّٱصْطَفَىٰ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۖ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
39:4play_arrow
Law araadal laahu aiyattakhiza waladal lastafaa mimmaa yakhluqu maa yashaaa’; Subhaanahoo Huwal laahul Waahidul Qahhaar
Sahih International:
If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed. Exalted is He; He is Allah, the One, the Prevailing.

خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ يُكَوِّرُ ٱلَّيْلَ عَلَى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ ٱلنَّهَارَ عَلَى ٱلَّيْلِ ۖ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّۭ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۗ أَلَا هُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرُ
39:5play_arrow
Khalaqas samaawaati wal arda bilhaqq; yukawwirul laila ‘alan nahaari wa yukawwirun nahaara ‘alaal laili wa sakhkharash shamsa walqamara kulluny yajree li ajalim musammaa; alaa Huwal ‘Azeezul Ghaffaar
Sahih International:
He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.

خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍۢ وَٰحِدَةٍۢ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍۢ ۚ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًۭا مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍۢ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتٍۢ ثَلَـٰثٍۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ
39:6play_arrow
Khalaqakum min nafsinw waahidatin summa ja’ala minhaa zawjahaa wa anzala lakum minal-an’aami samaani yata azwaaj; yakhlu qukum fee butooni ummahaatikum khalqam mim ba’di khalqin fee zulumaatin salaas; zaalikumul laahu Rabbukum lahul mulk; laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fa annaa tusrafoon
Sahih International:
He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three darknesses. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him, so how are you averted?

إِن تَكْفُرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَنِىٌّ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَلَا يَرْضَىٰ لِعِبَادِهِ ٱلْكُفْرَ ۖ وَإِن تَشْكُرُوا۟ يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ ۗ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
39:7play_arrow
In takfuroo fa innal laaha ghaniyyun ‘ankum; wa laa yardaa li’ibaadihil kufra wa in tashkuroo yardahu lakum; wa laa taziru waaziratunw wizra ukhraa; summa ilaa Rabikum marji’ukum fa-yunabbi’ukum bimaa kuntum ta’maloon; innahoo ‘aleemum bizaatissudoor
Sahih International:
If you disbelieve – indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His servants disbelief. And if you are grateful, He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَا رَبَّهُۥ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُۥ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنْهُ نَسِىَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًۭا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ قُلْ تَمَتَّعْ بِكُفْرِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ إِنَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ
39:8play_arrow
Wa izaa massal insaana durrun da’aa Rabbahoo muneeban ilaihi summa izaa khawwalahoo ni’matam minhu nasiya maa kaana yad’ooo ilaihi min qablu wa ja’ala lillaahi andaadal liyudilla ‘ansabeelih; qul tamatta’ bikufrika qaleelan innaka min Ashaabin Naar;
Sahih International:
And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before, and he attributes to Allah equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, “Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire.”

أَمَّنْ هُوَ قَـٰنِتٌ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ سَاجِدًۭا وَقَآئِمًۭا يَحْذَرُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَيَرْجُوا۟ رَحْمَةَ رَبِّهِۦ ۗ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ۗ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
39:9play_arrow
Amman huwa qaanitun aanaaa’al laili saajidanw wa qaaa’imai yahzarul Aakhirata wa yarjoo rahmata Rabbih; qul hal yastawil lazeena ya’lamoona wallazeena laa ya’lamoon; innamaa yatazakkaru ulul albaab (section 1)
Sahih International:
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?” Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

قُلْ يَـٰعِبَادِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭ ۗ وَأَرْضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةٌ ۗ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ
39:10play_arrow
Qul yaa ‘ibaadil lazeena aamanut taqoo Rabbakum; lillazeena ahsanoo fee haazihid dunyaa hasanah; wa ardul laahi waasi’ah; innamaa yuwaffas saabiroona ajrahum bighayri hisab
Sahih International:
Say, “O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.”

قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصًۭا لَّهُ ٱلدِّينَ

Qul inneee umirtu an a’budal laaha mukhlisal lahud deen
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.

وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

Wa umirtu li an akoona awwalal muslimeen
Sahih International:
And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims.”

قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ

Qul inneee akhaafu in ‘asaitu Rabbee ‘azaaba Yawmin ‘azeem
Sahih International:
Say, “Indeed I fear, if I should disobey my Lord, the punishment of a tremendous Day.”

قُلِ ٱللَّهَ أَعْبُدُ مُخْلِصًۭا لَّهُۥ دِينِى

Qulil laaha a’budu mukhlisal lahoo deenee
Sahih International:
Say, “Allah [alone] do I worship, sincere to Him in my religion,

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
39:15play_arrow
Fa’budoo maa shi’tum min doonih; qul innal khaasireenal lazeena khasirooo anfusahum wa ahleehim yawmal qiyaamah; alaa zaalika huwal khusraanul mubeen
Sahih International:
So worship what you will besides Him.” Say, “Indeed, the losers are the ones who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss.”

لَهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمِن تَحْتِهِمْ ظُلَلٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ عِبَادَهُۥ ۚ يَـٰعِبَادِ فَٱتَّقُونِ
39:16play_arrow
Lahum min fawqihim zulalum minan Naari wa min tahtihim zulal; zaalika yukhaw wiful laahu bihee ‘ibaadah; yaa ‘ibaadi fattaqoon
Sahih International:
They will have canopies of fire above them and below them, canopies. By that Allah threatens His servants. O My servants, then fear Me.

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱجْتَنَبُوا۟ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ أَن يَعْبُدُوهَا وَأَنَابُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ لَهُمُ ٱلْبُشْرَىٰ ۚ فَبَشِّرْ عِبَادِ
39:17play_arrow
Wallazeenaj tanabut Taaghoota ai ya’budoohaa wa anaabooo ilal laahi lahumul bushraa; fabashshir ‘ibaad
Sahih International:
But those who have avoided Taghut, lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah – for them are good tidings. So give good tidings to My servants

ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقَوْلَ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ أَحْسَنَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
39:18play_arrow
Allazeena yastami’oonal qawla fayattabi’oona ahsanah; ulaaa’ikal lazeena hadaahumul laahu wa ulaaa’ika hum ulul albaab
Sahih International:
Who listen to speech and follow the best of it. Those are the ones Allah has guided, and those are people of understanding.

أَفَمَنْ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَةُ ٱلْعَذَابِ أَفَأَنتَ تُنقِذُ مَن فِى ٱلنَّارِ
39:19play_arrow
Afaman haqqa ‘alaihi kalimatul ‘azaab; afa anta tunqizu man fin Naar
Sahih International:
Then, is one who has deserved the decree of punishment [to be guided]? Then, can you save one who is in the Fire?

لَـٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌۭ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌۭ مَّبْنِيَّةٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
39:20play_arrow
Laakinil lazeenat taqaw Rabbahum lahum ghurafum min fawqihaa ghurafum mabniyyatun tajree min tahtihal anhaar; wa’dal laah; laa yukhliful laahul mee’aad
Sahih International:
But those who have feared their Lord – for them are chambers, above them chambers built high, beneath which rivers flow. [This is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in [His] promise.

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَسَلَكَهُۥ يَنَـٰبِيعَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًۭا مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَىٰهُ مُصْفَرًّۭا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُۥ حُطَـٰمًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
39:21play_arrow
Alam tara annal laaha anzala minas samaaa’i maaa’an fasalakahoo yanaabee’a fil ardi summa yukhriju bihee zar’am mukhtalifan alwaanuhoo summa yaheeju fatarahu musfarran summa yaj’aluhoo hutaamaa; inna fee zaalika lazikraa li ulil albaab (section 2)
Sahih International:
Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding.

أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلْقَـٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ
39:22play_arrow
Afaman sharahal laahu sadrahoo lil Islaami fahuwa ‘alaa noorim mir Rabbih; fa wailul lilqaasiyati quloobuhum min zikril laah; ulaaa’ika fee dalaalim mubeen
Sahih International:
So is one whose breast Allah has expanded to [accept] Islam and he is upon a light from his Lord [like one whose heart rejects it]? Then woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Those are in manifest error.

ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَـٰبًۭا مُّتَشَـٰبِهًۭا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

Allahu nazzala ahsanal hadeesi Kitaabam mutashaa biham masaaniy taqsha’irru minhu juloodul lazeena yakhshawna Rabbahum summa taleenu julooduhum wa quloo buhum ilaa zikril laah; zaalika hudal laahi yahdee bihee mai yashaaa’; wa mai yudlilil laahu famaa lahoo min haad
Sahih International:
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah. That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide.

أَفَمَن يَتَّقِى بِوَجْهِهِۦ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَقِيلَ لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ
39:24play_arrow
Afamai yattaqee biwaj hihee sooo’al ‘azaabi Yawmal Qiyaamah; wa qeela lizzaali meena zooqoo maa kuntum taksiboon
Sahih International:
Then is he who will shield with his face the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection [like one secure from it]? And it will be said to the wrongdoers, “Taste what you used to earn.”

كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
39:25play_arrow
Kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fa ataahumul ‘azaabu min haisu laa yash’uroon
Sahih International:
Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخِزْىَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
39:26play_arrow
Fa azaaqahumul laahul khizya fil hayaatid dunyaa wa la’azaabul Aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

وَلَقَدْ ضَرَبْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍۢ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
39:27play_arrow
Wa laqad darabnaa linnaasi fee haazal Qur-aani min kulli masalil la’allahum yatazakkaroon
Sahih International:
And We have certainly presented for the people in this Qur’an from every [kind of] example – that they might remember.

قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِى عِوَجٍۢ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ
39:28play_arrow
Qur-aanan ‘Arabiyyan ghaira zee ‘iwajil la’allahum yattaqoon
Sahih International:
[It is] an Arabic Qur’an, without any deviance that they might become righteous.

ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًۭا رَّجُلًۭا فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ مُتَشَـٰكِسُونَ وَرَجُلًۭا سَلَمًۭا لِّرَجُلٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا ۚ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ۚ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
39:29play_arrow
Darabal laahu masalar rajulan feehi shurakaaa’u mutashaakisoona wa rajulan salamal lirajulin hal yastawi yaani masalaa; alhamdu lillaah; bal aksaruhum laa ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
Allah presents an example: a slave owned by quarreling partners and another belonging exclusively to one man – are they equal in comparison? Praise be to Allah! But most of them do not know.

إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌۭ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ
39:30play_arrow
Innaka maiyitunw wa inna hum maiyitoon
Sahih International:
Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ عِندَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ
39:31play_arrow
Summa innakum Yawmal Qiyaamati ‘inda Rabbikum takhtasimoon (section 3) (End Juz 23)
Sahih International:
Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute.
