بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ
67:1play_arrow
Tabaarakal lazee biyadihil mulku wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shai-in qadeer
Sahih International:
Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent –

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًۭا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ
67:2play_arrow
Allazee khalaqal mawta walhayaata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu ‘amalaa; wa huwal ‘azeezul ghafoor
Sahih International:
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving –

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِن تَفَـٰوُتٍۢ ۖ فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍۢ
67:3play_arrow
Allazee khalaqa sab’a samaawaatin tibaaqam maa taraa fee khalqir rahmaani min tafaawut farji’il basara hal taraa min futoor
Sahih International:
[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?

ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًۭا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌۭ
67:4play_arrow
Summar ji’il basara karrataini yanqalib ilaikal basaru khaasi’anw wa huwa haseer
Sahih International:
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَـٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا رُجُومًۭا لِّلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
67:5play_arrow
Wa laqad zaiyannas samaaa’ad dunyaa bimasaa beeha wa ja’alnaahaa rujoomal lish shayaateeni wa a’tadnaa lahum ‘azaabas sa’eer
Sahih International:
And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
67:6play_arrow
Wa lillazeena kafaroo bi rabbihim ‘azaabu jahannama wa bi’sal maseer
Sahih International:
And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.

إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًۭا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ
67:7play_arrow
Izaaa ulqoo feehaa sami’oo lahaa shaheeqanw wa hiya tafoor
Sahih International:
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.

تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أُلْقِىَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌۭ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ
67:8play_arrow
Takaadu tamayyazu minal ghaizz kullamaaa ulqiya feehaa fawjun sa alahum khazanatuhaaa alam ya’tikum nazeer
Sahih International:
It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, “Did there not come to you a warner?”

قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٌۭ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ كَبِيرٍۢ
67:9play_arrow
Qaaloo balaa qad jaaa’anaa nazeerun fakazzabnaa wa qulnaa maa nazzalal laahu min shai in in antum illaa fee dalaalin kabeer
Sahih International:
They will say,” Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, ‘Allah has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'”

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
67:10play_arrow
Wa qaaloo law kunnaa nasma’u awna’qilu maa kunnaa feee as haabis sa’eer
Sahih International:
And they will say, “If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze.”

فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسُحْقًۭا لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
67:11play_arrow
Fa’tarafoo bizambihim fasuhqal li as haabis sa’eer
Sahih International:
And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ
67:12play_arrow
Innal lazeena yakhshawna rabbahum bilghaibi lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun kabeer
Sahih International:
Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.

وَأَسِرُّوا۟ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
67:13play_arrow
Wa asirroo qawlakum awijharoo bih; innahoo ‘aleemum bizaatis sudoor
Sahih International:
And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
67:14play_arrow
Alaa ya’lamu man khalaqa wa huwal lateeful khabeer
Sahih International:
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًۭا فَٱمْشُوا۟ فِى مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِهِۦ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ
67:15play_arrow
Huwal lazee ja’ala lakumul arda zaloolan famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa kuloo mir rizqih; wa ilaihin nushoor
Sahih International:
It is He who made the earth tame for you – so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision – and to Him is the resurrection.

ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَمُورُ
67:16play_arrow
‘A-amintum man fissamaaa’i aiyakhsifa bi kumul arda fa izaa hiya tamoor
Sahih International:
Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًۭا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ
67:17play_arrow
Am amintum man fissamaaa’i ai yursila ‘alaikum haasiban fasata’lamoona kaifa nazeer
Sahih International:
Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ
67:18play_arrow
Wa laqad kazzabal lazeena min qablihim fakaifa kaana nakeer
Sahih International:
And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَـٰٓفَّـٰتٍۢ وَيَقْبِضْنَ ۚ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۭ بَصِيرٌ
67:19play_arrow
Awalam yaraw ilat tairi fawqahum saaaffaatinw wa yaqbidn; maa yumsikuhunna il’lar rahmaan; innahoo bikulli shai in baseer
Sahih International:
Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌۭ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۚ إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ
67:20play_arrow
Amman haazal lazee huwa jundul lakum yansurukum min doonir rahmaan; inilkaafiroona illaa fee ghuroor
Sahih International:
Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not but in delusion.

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّۢ وَنُفُورٍ
67:21play_arrow
Amman haazal lazee yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqah; bal lajjoo fee ‘utuwwinw wa nufoor
Sahih International:
Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.

أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
67:22play_arrow
Afamai yamshee mukibban ‘alaa wajhihee ahdaaa ammany yamshee sawiyyan ‘alaa siratim mustaqeem
Sahih International:
Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۖ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ
67:23play_arrow
Qul huwal lazee ansha akum wa ja’ala lakumus sam’a wal absaara wal af’idata qaleelam maa tashkuroon
Sahih International:
Say, “It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.”

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
67:24play_arrow
Qul huwal lazee zara akum fil ardi wa ilaihi tuhsharoon
Sahih International:
Say, “It is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.”

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
67:25play_arrow
Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa’du in kuntum saadiqeen
Sahih International:
And they say, “When is this promise, if you should be truthful?”

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

Qul innamal ‘ilmu ‘indallaahi wa innamaaa ana nazeerum mubeen
Sahih International:
Say, “The knowledge is only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner.”

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ
67:27play_arrow
Falaammaa ra-awhu zulfatan seee’at wujoohul lazeena kafaroo wa qeela haazal lazee kuntum bihee tadda’oon
Sahih International:
But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, “This is that for which you used to call.”

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ
67:28play_arrow
Qul ara’aytum in ahlaka niyal laahu wa mam ma’iya aw rahimanaa famai-yujeerul kaafireena min ‘azaabin aleem
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?”

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
67:29play_arrow
Qul huwar rahmaanu aamannaa bihee wa ‘alaihi tawakkalnaa fasata’lamoona man huwa fee dalaalim mubeen
Sahih International:
Say, “He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error.”

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًۭا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍۢ مَّعِينٍۭ
67:30play_arrow
Qul ara’aytum in asbaha maaa’ukum ghawran famai ya’teekum bimaaa’im ma’een
Sahih International:
Say, “Have you considered: if your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?”

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
68:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

نٓ ۚ وَٱلْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
68:1play_arrow
Noon; walqalami wa maa yasturoon
Sahih International:
Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe,

مَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍۢ
68:2play_arrow
Maa anta bini’mati Rabbika bimajnoon
Sahih International:
You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman.

وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍۢ
68:3play_arrow
Wa inna laka la ajran ghaira mamnoon
Sahih International:
And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted.

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍۢ
68:4play_arrow
Wa innaka la’alaa khuluqin ‘azeem
Sahih International:
And indeed, you are of a great moral character.

فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
68:5play_arrow
Fasatubsiru wa yubsiroon
Sahih International:
So you will see and they will see

بِأَييِّكُمُ ٱلْمَفْتُونُ
68:6play_arrow
Bi ayyikumul maftoon
Sahih International:
Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil].

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
68:7play_arrow
Innaa Rabbaka Huwa a’lamu biman dalla ‘an sabeelihee wa Huwa a’lamu bilmuhtadeen
Sahih International:
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided.

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
68:8play_arrow
Falaa tuti’il mukazzibeen
Sahih International:
Then do not obey the deniers.

وَدُّوا۟ لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
68:9play_arrow
Waddoo law tudhinu fa-yudhinoon
Sahih International:
They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you].

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍۢ مَّهِينٍ
68:10play_arrow
Wa laa tuti’ kulla hallaa fim maheen
Sahih International:
And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer

هَمَّازٍۢ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍۢ
68:11play_arrow
Hammaazim mash shaaa’im binameem
Sahih International:
[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip –

مَّنَّاعٍۢ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
68:12play_arrow
Mannaa’il lilkhairi mu’tadin aseem
Sahih International:
A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful,

عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
68:13play_arrow
‘Utullim ba’da zaalika zaneem
Sahih International:
Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender.

أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍۢ وَبَنِينَ
68:14play_arrow
An kaana zaa maalinw-wa baneen
Sahih International:
Because he is a possessor of wealth and children,

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
68:15play_arrow
Izaa tutlaa ‘alaihi aayaatunaa qaala asaateerul awwaleen
Sahih International:
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, “Legends of the former peoples.”

سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلْخُرْطُومِ
68:16play_arrow
Sanasimuhoo ‘alal khurtoom
Sahih International:
We will brand him upon the snout.

إِنَّا بَلَوْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
68:17play_arrow
Innaa balawnaahum kamaa balawnaaa As-haabal jannati iz ‘aqsamoo la-yasri munnahaa musbiheen
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
68:18play_arrow
Wa laa yastasnoon
Sahih International:
Without making exception.

فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَآئِفٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ
68:19play_arrow
Fataafa ‘alaihaa taaa’i fum mir rabbika wa hum naaa’imoon
Sahih International:
So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep.

فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ
68:20play_arrow
Fa asbahat kassareem
Sahih International:
And it became as though reaped.

فَتَنَادَوْا۟ مُصْبِحِينَ
68:21play_arrow
Fatanaadaw musbiheen
Sahih International:
And they called one another at morning,

أَنِ ٱغْدُوا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰرِمِينَ
68:22play_arrow
Anighdoo ‘alaa harsikum in kuntum saarimeen
Sahih International:
[Saying], “Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit.”

فَٱنطَلَقُوا۟ وَهُمْ يَتَخَـٰفَتُونَ
68:23play_arrow
Fantalaqoo wa hum yatakhaafatoon
Sahih International:
So they set out, while lowering their voices,

أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌۭ
68:24play_arrow
Al laa yadkhulannahal yawma ‘alaikum miskeen
Sahih International:
[Saying], “There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person.”

وَغَدَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍۢ قَـٰدِرِينَ
68:25play_arrow
Wa ghadaw ‘alaa hardin qaadireen
Sahih International:
And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
68:26play_arrow
Falammaa ra awhaa qaalooo innaa ladaaalloon
Sahih International:
But when they saw it, they said, “Indeed, we are lost;

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
68:27play_arrow
Bal nahnu mahroomoon
Sahih International:
Rather, we have been deprived.”

قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
68:28play_arrow
Qaala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum law laa tusabbihoon
Sahih International:
The most moderate of them said, “Did I not say to you, ‘Why do you not exalt [Allah]?’ “

قَالُوا۟ سُبْحَـٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
68:29play_arrow
Qaaloo subhaana rabbinaaa innaa kunnaa zaalimeen
Sahih International:
They said, “Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers.”

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَلَـٰوَمُونَ
68:30play_arrow
Fa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa ba’diny yatalaawamoon
Sahih International:
Then they approached one another, blaming each other.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا طَـٰغِينَ
68:31play_arrow
Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa taagheen
Sahih International:
They said, “O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.

عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهَآ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَٰغِبُونَ
68:32play_arrow
‘Asaa rabbunaaa any yubdilanaa khairam minhaaa innaaa ilaa rabbinaa raaghiboon
Sahih International:
Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous.”

كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ
68:33play_arrow
Kazaalikal azaab, wa la’azaabul aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
68:34play_arrow
Inna lilmuttaqeena ‘inda rabbihim jannaatin na’eem
Sahih International:
Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.

أَفَنَجْعَلُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ كَٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
68:35play_arrow
Afanaj’alul muslimeena kalmujrimeen
Sahih International:
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
68:36play_arrow
Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon
Sahih International:
What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?

أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَـٰبٌۭ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
68:37play_arrow
Am lakum kitaabun feehi tadrusoon
Sahih International:
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
68:38play_arrow
Inna lakum feehi lamaa takhaiyaroon
Sahih International:
That indeed for you is whatever you choose?

أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَـٰنٌ عَلَيْنَا بَـٰلِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
68:39play_arrow
Am lakum aymaanun ‘alainaa baalighatun ilaa yawmil qiyaamati inna lakum lamaa tahkumoon
Sahih International:
Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?

سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُم بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
68:40play_arrow
Salhum ayyuhum bizaa lika za’eem
Sahih International:
Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible.

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِينَ
68:41play_arrow
Am lahum shurakaaa’u fal ya’too bishurakaaa ‘ihim in kaanoo saadiqeen
Sahih International:
Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful.

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍۢ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
68:42play_arrow
Yawma yukshafu ‘an saaqinw wa yud’awna ilas sujoodi falaa yastatee’oon
Sahih International:
The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able,

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَـٰلِمُونَ
68:43play_arrow
Khaashi’atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillatunw wa qad kaanoo yud’awna ilassujoodi wa hum saalimoon
Sahih International:
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound.

فَذَرْنِى وَمَن يُكَذِّبُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
68:44play_arrow
Fazarnee wa many yukazzibu bihaazal hadeesi sanastad rijuhum min haisu laa ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur’an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know.

وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ
68:45play_arrow
Wa umlee lahum; inna kaidee mateen
Sahih International:
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.

أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ
68:46play_arrow
Am tas’aluhum ajran fahum min maghramin musqaloon
Sahih International:
Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
68:47play_arrow
Am ‘indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon
Sahih International:
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌۭ
68:48play_arrow
Fasbir lihukmi rabbika wa laa takun kasaahibil hoot; iz naadaa wa huwa makzoom
Sahih International:
Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed.

لَّوْلَآ أَن تَدَٰرَكَهُۥ نِعْمَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ لَنُبِذَ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌۭ
68:49play_arrow
Law laaa an tadaara kahoo ni’matum mir rabbihee lanubiza bil’araaa’i wa huwa mazmoom
Sahih International:
If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.

فَٱجْتَبَـٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
68:50play_arrow
Fajtabaahu rabbuhoo faja’alahoo minas saaliheen
Sahih International:
And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ
68:51play_arrow
Wa iny-yakaadul lazeena kafaroo la-yuzliqoonaka biabsaarihim lammaa sami’uz-Zikra wa yaqooloona innahoo lamajnoon
Sahih International:
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, “Indeed, he is mad.”

وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
68:52play_arrow
Wa maa huwa illaa zikrul lil’aalameen
Sahih International:
But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:1play_arrow
Al haaaqqah
Sahih International:
The Inevitable Reality –

مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:2play_arrow
Mal haaaqqah
Sahih International:
What is the Inevitable Reality?

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُ
69:3play_arrow
Wa maaa adraaka mal haaaqqah
Sahih International:
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِ
69:4play_arrow
Kazzabat samoodu wa ‘Aadum bil qaari’ah
Sahih International:
Thamud and ‘Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ
69:5play_arrow
Fa-ammaa Samoodu fa uhlikoo bittaaghiyah
Sahih International:
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

وَأَمَّا عَادٌۭ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍۢ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍۢ
69:6play_arrow
Wa ammaa ‘Aadun fa uhlikoo bi reehin sarsarin ‘aatiyah
Sahih International:
And as for ‘Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍۢ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًۭا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍۢ
69:7play_arrow
Sakkhara haa ‘alaihim sab’a la yaalinw wa samaaniyata ayyaamin husooman fataral qawma feehaa sar’aa ka annahum a’jaazu nakhlin khaawiyah
Sahih International:
Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍۢ
69:8play_arrow
Fahal taraa lahum min baaqiyah
Sahih International:
Then do you see of them any remains?

وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِ
69:9play_arrow
Wa jaaa’a Firawnu wa man qablahoo wal mu’tafikaatu bil khaati’ah
Sahih International:
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.

فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةًۭ رَّابِيَةً
69:10play_arrow
Fa ‘asaw Rasoola Rabbihim fa akhazahum akhzatar raabiyah
Sahih International:
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].

إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِ
69:11play_arrow
Innaa lammaa taghal maaa’u hamalnaakum fil jaariyah
Sahih International:
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship

لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌۭ وَٰعِيَةٌۭ
69:12play_arrow
Li naj’alahaa lakum tazki ratanw-wa ta’iyahaa uzununw waa’iyah
Sahih International:
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.

فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ
69:13play_arrow
Fa izaa nufikha fis soori nafkhatunw waahidah
Sahih International:
Then when the Horn is blown with one blast

وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ
69:14play_arrow
Wa humilatil ardu wal jibaalu fadukkataa dakkatanw waahidah
Sahih International:
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow –

فَيَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
69:15play_arrow
Fa yawma’izinw waqa’atil waaqi’ah
Sahih International:
Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur,

وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاهِيَةٌۭ
69:16play_arrow
Wanshaqqatis samaaa’u fahiya yawma ‘izinw-waahiyah
Sahih International:
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.

وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌۭ
69:17play_arrow
Wal malaku ‘alaaa arjaaa’ihaa; wa yahmilu ‘Arsha Rabbika fawqahum yawma’izin samaaniyah
Sahih International:
And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].

يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌۭ
69:18play_arrow
Yawma’izin tu’radoona laa takhfaa min kum khaafiyah
Sahih International:
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:19play_arrow
Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenihee fa yaqoolu haaa’umuq ra’oo kitaabiyah
Sahih International:
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, “Here, read my record!

إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْ
69:20play_arrow
Innee zannantu annee mulaaqin hisaabiyah
Sahih International:
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account.”

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ
69:21play_arrow
Fahuwa fee ‘eeshatir raadiyah
Sahih International:
So he will be in a pleasant life –

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ
69:22play_arrow
Fee jannnatin ‘aaliyah
Sahih International:
In an elevated garden,

قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌۭ
69:23play_arrow
Qutoofuhaa daaniyah
Sahih International:
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ
69:24play_arrow
Kuloo washraboo haneee’am bimaaa aslaftum fil ayyaamil khaliyah
Sahih International:
[They will be told], “Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past.”

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْ
69:25play_arrow
Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo bishimaalihee fa yaqoolu yaalaitanee lam oota kitaaabiyah
Sahih International:
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, “Oh, I wish I had not been given my record

وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْ
69:26play_arrow
Wa lam adri maa hisaabiyah
Sahih International:
And had not known what is my account.

يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَ
69:27play_arrow
Yaa laitahaa kaanatil qaadiyah
Sahih International:
I wish my death had been the decisive one.

مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜ
69:28play_arrow
Maaa aghnaa ‘annee maaliyah
Sahih International:
My wealth has not availed me.

هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْ
69:29play_arrow
Halaka ‘annee sultaaniyah
Sahih International:
Gone from me is my authority.”

خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ
69:30play_arrow
Khuzoohu faghullooh
Sahih International:
[Allah will say], “Seize him and shackle him.

ثُمَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ
69:31play_arrow
Summal Jaheema sallooh
Sahih International:
Then into Hellfire drive him.

ثُمَّ فِى سِلْسِلَةٍۢ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًۭا فَٱسْلُكُوهُ
69:32play_arrow
Summa fee silsilatin zar’uhaa sab’oona ziraa’an faslukooh
Sahih International:
Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him.”

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:33play_arrow
Innahoo kaana laa yu’minu billaahil ‘Azeem
Sahih International:
Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great,

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
69:34play_arrow
Wa laa yahuddu ‘alaa ta’aamil miskeen
Sahih International:
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.

فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَـٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌۭ
69:35play_arrow
Falaysa lahul yawma haahunaa hameem
Sahih International:
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍۢ
69:36play_arrow
Wa laa ta’aamun illaa min ghisleen
Sahih International:
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;

لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَـٰطِـُٔونَ
69:37play_arrow
Laa ya’kuluhooo illal khaati’oon
Sahih International:
None will eat it except the sinners.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:38play_arrow
Falaaa uqsimu bimaa tubsiroon
Sahih International:
So I swear by what you see

وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
69:39play_arrow
Wa maa laa tubsiroon
Sahih International:
And what you do not see

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ
69:40play_arrow
Innahoo laqawlu Rasoolin kareem
Sahih International:
[That] indeed, the Qur’an is the word of a noble Messenger.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ
69:41play_arrow
Wa maa huwa biqawli shaa’ir; qaleelan maa tu’minoon
Sahih International:
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍۢ ۚ قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ
69:42play_arrow
Wa laa biqawli kaahin; qaleelan maa tazakkaroon
Sahih International:
Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.

تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
69:43play_arrow
Tanzeelum mir rabbil ‘aalameen
Sahih International:
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ
69:44play_arrow
Wa law taqawwala ‘alainaa ba’dal aqaaweel
Sahih International:
And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,

لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ
69:45play_arrow
La-akhaznaa minhu bilyameen
Sahih International:
We would have seized him by the right hand;

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ
69:46play_arrow
Summa laqata’naa minhul wateen
Sahih International:
Then We would have cut from him the aorta.

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَـٰجِزِينَ
69:47play_arrow
Famaa minkum min ahadin’anhu haajizeen
Sahih International:
And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌۭ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
69:48play_arrow
Wa innahoo latazkiratul lilmuttaqeen
Sahih International:
And indeed, the Qur’an is a reminder for the righteous.

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
69:49play_arrow
Wa inna lana’lamu anna minkum mukazzibeen
Sahih International:
And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
69:50play_arrow
Wa innahu lahasratun ‘alal kaafireen
Sahih International:
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
69:51play_arrow
Wa innahoo lahaqqul yaqeen
Sahih International:
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
69:52play_arrow
Fassabbih bismi Rabbikal ‘Azeem
Sahih International:
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
70:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍۢ وَاقِعٍۢ
70:1play_arrow
Sa’ala saaa’ilun bi ‘azaabinw waaqi’
Sahih International:
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen

لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌۭ
70:2play_arrow
Lil kaafireena laisa lahoo daafi’
Sahih International:
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ
70:3play_arrow
Minal laahi zil ma’aarij
Sahih International:
[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍۢ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍۢ
70:4play_arrow
Ta’rujul malaaa’ikatu war Roohu ilaihi fee yawmin kaana miqdaaruhoo khamseena alfa sanah
Sahih International:
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًۭا جَمِيلًا
70:5play_arrow
Fasbir sabran jameelaa
Sahih International:
So be patient with gracious patience.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًۭا
70:6play_arrow
Inaahum yarawnahoo ba’eedaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًۭا
70:7play_arrow
Wa naraahu qareebaa
Sahih International:
But We see it [as] near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ
70:8play_arrow
Yawma takoonus samaaa’u kalmuhl
Sahih International:
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ
70:9play_arrow
Wa takoonul jibaalu kal’ihn
Sahih International:
And the mountains will be like wool,

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًۭا
70:10play_arrow
Wa laa yas’alu hameemun hameemaa
Sahih International:
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
70:11play_arrow
Yubassaroonahum; ya waddul mujrimu law yaftadee min ‘azaabi yawma’izim bibaneeh
Sahih International:
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children

وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ
70:12play_arrow
Wa saahibatihee wa akheeh
Sahih International:
And his wife and his brother

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ ٱلَّتِى تُـْٔوِيهِ
70:13play_arrow
Wa faseelathil latee tu’weeh
Sahih International:
And his nearest kindred who shelter him

وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ
70:14play_arrow
Wa man fil ardi jamee’an summa yunjeeh
Sahih International:
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ
70:15play_arrow
Kallaa innahaa lazaa
Sahih International:
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],

نَزَّاعَةًۭ لِّلشَّوَىٰ
70:16play_arrow
Nazzaa’atal lishshawaa
Sahih International:
A remover of exteriors.

تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
70:17play_arrow
Tad’oo man adbara wa tawallaa
Sahih International:
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ
70:18play_arrow
Wa jama’a fa aw’aa
Sahih International:
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعًا
70:19play_arrow
Innal insaana khuliqa haloo’aa
Sahih International:
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:

إِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ جَزُوعًۭا
70:20play_arrow
Izaa massahush sharru jazoo’aa
Sahih International:
When evil touches him, impatient,

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلْخَيْرُ مَنُوعًا
70:21play_arrow
Wa izaa massahul khairu manoo’aa
Sahih International:
And when good touches him, withholding [of it],

إِلَّا ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ
70:22play_arrow
Illal musalleen
Sahih International:
Except the observers of prayer –

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَ
70:23play_arrow
Allazeena hum ‘alaa Salaatihim daaa’imoon
Sahih International:
Those who are constant in their prayer

وَٱلَّذِينَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقٌّۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ
70:24play_arrow
Wallazeena feee amwaalihim haqqun ma’loom
Sahih International:
And those within whose wealth is a known right

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَٱلْمَحْرُومِ
70:25play_arrow
Lissaaa ‘ili walmahroom
Sahih International:
For the petitioner and the deprived –

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
70:26play_arrow
Wallazeena yusaddiqoona bi yawmid Deen
Sahih International:
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ
70:27play_arrow
Wallazeena hum min ‘azaabi Rabbihim mushfiqoon
Sahih International:
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord –

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَأْمُونٍۢ
70:28play_arrow
Inna ‘azaaba Rabbihim ghairu ma’ moon
Sahih International:
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe –

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَـٰفِظُونَ
70:29play_arrow
Wallazeena hum li furoojihim haafizoon
Sahih International:
And those who guard their private parts

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ
70:30play_arrow
Illaa ‘alaaa azwaajihim aw maa malakat aymaanuhum fa innahum ghairu maloomeen
Sahih International:
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed –

فَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْعَادُونَ
70:31play_arrow
Famanib taghaa waraaa’a zaalika fa ulaaa’ika humul ‘aadoon
Sahih International:
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors –

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ
70:32play_arrow
Wallazeena hum li amaanaatihim wa ‘ahdihim raa’oon
Sahih International:
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ
70:33play_arrow
Wallazeena hum bi shahaadaatihim qaaa’imoon
Sahih International:
And those who are in their testimonies upright

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ
70:34play_arrow
Wallazeena hum ‘alaa salaatihim yuhaafizoon
Sahih International:
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى جَنَّـٰتٍۢ مُّكْرَمُونَ
70:35play_arrow
Ulaaa’ika fee jannaatim mukramoon
Sahih International:
They will be in gardens, honored.

فَمَالِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ
70:36play_arrow
Famaa lil lazeena kafaroo qibalaka muhti’een
Sahih International:
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],

عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ عِزِينَ
70:37play_arrow
‘Anil yameeni wa ‘anish shimaali ‘izeen
Sahih International:
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٍۢ
70:38play_arrow
Ayatma’u kullum ri’im minhum anyyudkhala jannata Na’eem
Sahih International:
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?

كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَ
70:39play_arrow
Kallaaa innaa khalaq nahum mimmaa ya’lamoon
Sahih International:
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ وَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَـٰدِرُونَ
70:40play_arrow
Falaaa uqsimu bi Rabbil mashaariqi wal maghaaribi innaa laqaadiroon
Sahih International:
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
70:41play_arrow
‘Alaaa an nubaddila khairan minhum wa maa nahnu bi masbooqeen
Sahih International:
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَـٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
70:42play_arrow
Fazarhum yakhoodoo wa yal’aboo hattaa yulaaqoo yawma humul lazee yoo’adoon
Sahih International:
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised –

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًۭا كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ نُصُبٍۢ يُوفِضُونَ
70:43play_arrow
Yawma yakhrujoona minal ajdaasi siraa’an ka anna hum ilaa nusubiny yoofidoon
Sahih International:
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.

خَـٰشِعَةً أَبْصَـٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
70:44play_arrow
Khaashi’atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillah; zaalikal yawmul lazee kaanoo yoo’adoon
Sahih International:
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
71:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
71:1play_arrow
Innaaa arsalnaa Noohan ilaa qawmihee an anzir qawmaka min qabli any yaatiyahum ‘azaabun aleem
Sahih International:
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], “Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.”

قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ
71:2play_arrow
Qaala yaa qawmi innee lakum nazeerum mubeen
Sahih International:
He said, “O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,

أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ
71:3play_arrow
Ani’-budul laaha watta qoohu wa atee’oon
Sahih International:
[Saying], ‘Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
71:4play_arrow
Yaghfir lakum min zunoobikum wa yu’akhkhirkum ilaaa ajalim musammaa; innaa ajalal laahi izaa jaaa’a laa yu’akhkhar; law kuntum ta’lamoon
Sahih International:
Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.’ “

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا
71:5play_arrow
Qaala rabbi innee da’awtu qawmee lailanw wa naharaa
Sahih International:
He said, “My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا
71:6play_arrow
Falam yazid hum du’aaa ‘eee illaa firaaraa
Sahih International:
But my invitation increased them not except in flight.

وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَـٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا
71:7play_arrow
Wa inee kullamaa da’awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja’alooo asaabi’ahum fee aazaanihim wastaghshaw siyaabahum wa asaarroo wastakbarus tikbaaraa
Sahih International:
And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا
71:8play_arrow
Summa innee da’aw tuhum jihaara
Sahih International:
Then I invited them publicly.

ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًۭا
71:9play_arrow
Summaa inneee a’lantu lahum wa asrartu lahum israaraa
Sahih International:
Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا
71:10play_arrow
Faqultus taghfiroo Rabakum innahoo kaana Ghaffaaraa
Sahih International:
And said, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا
71:11play_arrow
Yursilis samaaa’a ‘alaikum midraaraa
Sahih International:
He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًۭا
71:12play_arrow
Wa yumdidkum bi am waalinw wa baneena wa yaj’al lakum Jannaatinw wa yaj’al lakum anhaaraa
Sahih International:
And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًۭا
71:13play_arrow
Maa lakum laa tarjoona lillaahi waqaaraa
Sahih International:
What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
71:14play_arrow
Wa qad khalaqakum at waaraa
Sahih International:
While He has created you in stages?

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا
71:15play_arrow
Alam taraw kaifa khalaqal laahu sab’a samaawaatin tibaaqaa
Sahih International:
Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًۭا
71:16play_arrow
Wa ja’alal qamara feehinna nooranw wa ja’alash shamsa siraajaa
Sahih International:
And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًۭا
71:17play_arrow
Wallaahu ambatakum minal ardi nabaataa
Sahih International:
And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًۭا
71:18play_arrow
Summa yu’eedukum feehaa wa yukhrijukum ikhraajaa
Sahih International:
Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًۭا
71:19play_arrow
Wallaahu ja’ala lakumul arda bisaataa
Sahih International:
And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًۭا فِجَاجًۭا
71:20play_arrow
Litaslukoo minhaa subulan fijaajaa
Sahih International:
That you may follow therein roads of passage.’ “

قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا
71:21play_arrow
Qaala Noohur Rabbi innahum ‘asawnee wattaba’oo mal lam yazid hu maaluhoo wa waladuhooo illaa khasaara
Sahih International:
Noah said, “My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا
71:22play_arrow
Wa makaroo makran kubbaaraa
Sahih International:
And they conspired an immense conspiracy.

وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا
71:23play_arrow
Wa qaaloo laa tazarunna aalihatakum wa laa tazarunna Waddanw wa laa Suwaa’anw wa laa Yaghoosa wa Ya’ooqa wa Nasraa
Sahih International:
And said, ‘Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa’ or Yaghuth and Ya’uq and Nasr.

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَـٰلًۭا
71:24play_arrow
Wa qad adalloo kasee ranw wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa dalaalaa
Sahih International:
And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error.”

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٔـٰتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًۭا
71:25play_arrow
Mimmaa khateee’ aatihim ughriqoo fa udkhiloo Naaran falam yajidoo lahum min doonil laahi ansaaraa
Sahih International:
Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.

وَقَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا
71:26play_arrow
Wa qaala Noohur Rabbi laa tazar ‘alal ardi minal kaafireena daiyaaraa
Sahih International:
And Noah said, “My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا
71:27play_arrow
Innaka in tazarhum yudil loo ‘ibaadaka wa laa yalidooo illaa faajiran kaffaaraa
Sahih International:
Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًۭا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا
71:28play_arrow
Rabbigh fir lee wa liwaa lidaiya wa liman dakhala baitiya mu’minanw wa lil mu’mineena wal mu’minaati wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa tabaaraa
Sahih International:
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction.”

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
72:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

قُلْ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ ٱسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَانًا عَجَبًۭا
72:1play_arrow
Qul oohiya ilaiya annna hustama’a nafarum minal jinni faqaalooo innaa sami’naa quraanan ajaba
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, ‘Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’an.

يَهْدِىٓ إِلَى ٱلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًۭا
72:2play_arrow
Yahdeee ilar rushdi fa aamannaa bihee wa lan nushrika bi rabbinaaa ‘ahada
Sahih International:
It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone.

وَأَنَّهُۥ تَعَـٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا ٱتَّخَذَ صَـٰحِبَةًۭ وَلَا وَلَدًۭا
72:3play_arrow
Wa annahoo Ta’aalaa jaddu Rabbinaa mat’takhaza saahibatanw wa laa walada
Sahih International:
And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ شَطَطًۭا
72:4play_arrow
Wa annahoo kaana yaqoolu safeehunaa ‘al allahi shatata
Sahih International:
And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن تَقُولَ ٱلْإِنسُ وَٱلْجِنُّ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا
72:5play_arrow
Wa annaa zanannaaa al lan taqoolal insu wal jinnu ‘al allahi kaziba
Sahih International:
And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie.

وَأَنَّهُۥ كَانَ رِجَالٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًۭا
72:6play_arrow
Wa annahoo kaana rijaalun minal insi ya’oozoona bi rijaalin minal jinni fa zaadoohum rahaqa
Sahih International:
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.

وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًۭا
72:7play_arrow
Wa annahum zannoo kamaa zanantum al lany yab’asal laahu ‘ahada
Sahih International:
And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger].

وَأَنَّا لَمَسْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَـٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَسًۭا شَدِيدًۭا وَشُهُبًۭا
72:8play_arrow
Wa annaa lamasnas samaaa’a fa wajadnaahaa muli’at harasan shadeedanw wa shuhuba
Sahih International:
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.

وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَـٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ ۖ فَمَن يَسْتَمِعِ ٱلْـَٔانَ يَجِدْ لَهُۥ شِهَابًۭا رَّصَدًۭا
72:9play_arrow
Wa annaa kunnaa naq’udu minhaa maqaa’ida lis’sam’i famany yastami’il ‘aana yajid lahoo shihaabar rasada
Sahih International:
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.

وَأَنَّا لَا نَدْرِىٓ أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَدًۭا
72:10play_arrow
Wa annaa laa nadreee asharrun ureeda biman fil ardi ‘am ‘araada bihim rabbuhum rashada
Sahih International:
And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَدًۭا
72:11play_arrow
Wa annaa minnas saalihoona wa minnaa doona zaalika kunnaa taraaa’iqa qidada
Sahih International:
And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّآ أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُۥ هَرَبًۭا
72:12play_arrow
Wa annaa zanan naaa al lan nu’jizal laaha fil ardi wa lan nu’jizahoo haraba
Sahih International:
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.

وَأَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ ۖ فَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِرَبِّهِۦ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْسًۭا وَلَا رَهَقًۭا
72:13play_arrow
Wa annaa lammaa sami’nal hudaaa aamannaa bihee famany yu’min bi rabbihee falaa yakhaafu bakhsanw wa laa rahaqa
Sahih International:
And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.

وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًۭا
72:14play_arrow
Wa annaa minnal muslimoona wa minnal qaasitoona faman aslama fa ulaaa’ika taharraw rashada
Sahih International:
And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim – those have sought out the right course.

وَأَمَّا ٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا۟ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَبًۭا
72:15play_arrow
Wa ammal qaasitoona fa kaanoo li jahannama hataba
Sahih International:
But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.’

وَأَلَّوِ ٱسْتَقَـٰمُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَـٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقًۭا
72:16play_arrow
Wa alla wis taqaamoo ‘alat tareeqati la asqaynaahum maa’an ghadaqa
Sahih International:
And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision

لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن يُعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِۦ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَابًۭا صَعَدًۭا
72:17play_arrow
Linaftinahum feeh; wa many yu’rid ‘an zikri rabbihee yasluk hu ‘azaaban sa’ada
Sahih International:
So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment.

وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَـٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًۭا
72:18play_arrow
Wa annal masaajida lil laahi falaa tad’oo ma’al laahi ‘ahada
Sahih International:
And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone.

وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا
72:19play_arrow
Wa annahoo lammaa qaama ‘abdul laahi yad’oohu kaadoo yakoonoona ‘alaihi libada
Sahih International:
And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass.”

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا
72:20play_arrow
Qul innamaaa ad’oo rabbee wa laaa ushriku biheee ‘ahada
Sahih International:
Say, [O Muhammad], “I only invoke my Lord and do not associate with Him anyone.”

قُلْ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّۭا وَلَا رَشَدًۭا
72:21play_arrow
Qul innee laaa amliku lakum darranw wa laa rashada
Sahih International:
Say, “Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction.”

قُلْ إِنِّى لَن يُجِيرَنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدٌۭ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًا
72:22play_arrow
Qul innee lany yujeeranee minal laahi ‘ahadunw, wa lan ajida min doonihee multahada
Sahih International:
Say, “Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge.

إِلَّا بَلَـٰغًۭا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِسَـٰلَـٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
72:23play_arrow
Illaa balaagham minal laahi wa risaalaatih; wa many ya’sil laaha wa rasoolahoo fa inna lahoo naara jahannama khaalideena feehaaa ‘abada
Sahih International:
But [I have for you] only notification from Allah, and His messages.” And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger – then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًۭا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًۭا
72:24play_arrow
Hattaaa izaa ra aw maa yoo’adoona fasaya’lamoona man ad’afu naasiranw wa aqallu ‘adada
Sahih International:
[The disbelievers continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.

قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌۭ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَمَدًا
72:25play_arrow
Qul in adreee a qareebum maa too’adoona am yaj’alu lahoo rabbeee ‘amada
Sahih International:
Say, “I do not know if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period.”

عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِۦٓ أَحَدًا
72:26play_arrow
‘Aalimul ghaibi falaa yuzhiru alaa ghaibiheee ‘ahada
Sahih International:
[He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone

إِلَّا مَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍۢ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَسْلُكُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ رَصَدًۭا
72:27play_arrow
Illaa manir tadaa mir rasoolin fa innahoo yasluku min baini yadaihi wa min khalfihee rasada
Sahih International:
Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers

لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا۟ رِسَـٰلَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عَدَدًۢا
72:28play_arrow
Liya’lama an qad ablaghoo risaalaati rabbihim wa ahaata bi maa ladaihim wa ahsaa kulla shai’in ‘adada
Sahih International:
That he may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
73:0play_arrow
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
Sahih International:
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُزَّمِّلُ
73:1play_arrow
Ya aiyuhal muzzammil
Sahih International:
O you who wraps himself [in clothing],

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا
73:2play_arrow
Qumil laila illaa qaleelaa
Sahih International:
Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little –

نِّصْفَهُۥٓ أَوِ ٱنقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا
73:3play_arrow
Nisfahooo awinqus minhu qaleelaa
Sahih International:
Half of it – or subtract from it a little

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا
73:4play_arrow
Aw zid ‘alaihi wa rattilil Qur’aana tarteela
Sahih International:
Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation.

إِنَّا سَنُلْقِى عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًۭا ثَقِيلًا
73:5play_arrow
Innaa sanulqee ‘alaika qawlan saqeelaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.

إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ هِىَ أَشَدُّ وَطْـًۭٔا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا
73:6play_arrow
Inn naashi’atal laili hiya ashadddu wat anw wa aqwamu qeelaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words.

إِنَّ لَكَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ سَبْحًۭا طَوِيلًۭا
73:7play_arrow
Inna laka fin nahaari sabhan taweelaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًۭا
73:8play_arrow
Wazkuris ma rabbika wa tabattal ilaihi tabteelaa
Sahih International:
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.

رَّبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَٱتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًۭا
73:9play_arrow
Rabbul mashriqi wal maghriibi laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fattakhizhu wakeelaa
Sahih International:
[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا
73:10play_arrow
Wasbir ‘alaa maa yaqoo loona wahjurhum hajran jameelaa
Sahih International:
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

وَذَرْنِى وَٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُو۟لِى ٱلنَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا
73:11play_arrow
Wa zarnee walmukaz zibeena ulin na’mati wa mahhilhum qaleelaa
Sahih International:
And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.

إِنَّ لَدَيْنَآ أَنكَالًۭا وَجَحِيمًۭا
73:12play_arrow
Inna ladainaaa ankaalanw wa jaheemaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire

وَطَعَامًۭا ذَا غُصَّةٍۢ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا
73:13play_arrow
Wa ta’aaman zaa ghussa tinw wa’azaaban aleemaa
Sahih International:
And food that chokes and a painful punishment –

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا
73:14play_arrow
Yawma tarjuful ardu waljibaalu wa kaanatil jibaalu kaseebam maheelaa
Sahih International:
On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَـٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا

Innaa arsalnaaa ilaikum rasoolan shaahidan ‘aleykum kamaaa arsalnaaa ilaa Fir’awna rasoolaa
Sahih International:
Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.
