Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat 13 in Arabic Text
English Translation
Here you can read various translations of verse 13
[Some angels said], “Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes – perhaps you will be questioned.”
Flee not, but return to the good things of this life which were given you, and to your homes in order that ye may be called to account.
(They were told): “Flee not, but return to your comforts and to your dwellings. You are likely to be questioned.”
Flee not, but return to that wherein you lived a luxurious life, and to your homes, in order that you may be questioned.
(But it was said unto them): Flee not, but return to that (existence) which emasculated you and to your dwellings, that ye may be questioned.
“Do not scamper out and return to whatever luxury you were given to live in and to your dwellings, that you would be questioned.”
‘Do not try to escape. Go back to your homes and the pleasure you revelled in: you may be questioned.’
بھاگ دوڑ نہ کرو اور جہاں تمہیں آسودگی دی گئی تھی وہیں واپس لوٹو اور اپنے مکانات کی طرف جاؤ تاکہ تم سے سوال تو کر لیا جائے
Quran 21 Verse 13 Explanation
For those looking for commentary to help with the understanding of Surah Al-Anbiya ayat 13, we’ve provided two Tafseer works below. The first is the tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi, the second is of Ibn Kathir.
Ala-Maududi
(21:13) (They were told): “Flee not, but return to your comforts and to your dwellings. You are likely to be questioned.”[14]
14. This is a very meaningful sentence. It may mean:
(1) Examine this scourge minutely so that if someone asks you about it, you may be able to give an accurate account of it.
(2) Hold your grand meetings as usual. Perhaps your servants may come with folded hands before you to receive orders.
(3) Hold your councils as before, perhaps people may still come to ask for your wise counsels.
Ibn-Kathir
The tafsir of Surah Anbiya verse 13 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
