9. Fi amad-im-mumaddahah can have several meanings:
(1) That the gates of Hell will be closed and tall columnswill be erected on them.
(2) That the culprits will be tied to the tall columns.
(3) According to Ibn Abbas, the flames of the fire shall berising high like tall columns.
