English Translation
Here you can read various translations of verse 88
Say, “In whose hand is the realm of all things – and He protects while none can protect against Him – if you should know?”
Say: “Who is it in whose hands is the governance of all things,- who protects (all), but is not protected (of any)? (say) if ye know.”
Ask them: “Say, if you indeed know, to whom belongs the dominion over all things; (Who is it) that grants asylum, but against Whom no asylum is available?”
Say “In Whose Hand is the sovereignty of everything (i.e. treasures of each and everything)? And He protects (all), while against Whom there is no protector, (i.e. if Allah saves anyone none can punish or harm him, and if Allah punishes or harms anyone none can save him), if you know.” [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 12, Page 145]
Say: In Whose hand is the dominion over all things and He protecteth, while against Him there is no protection, if ye have knowledge?
Say, “In whose hand is the dominion of everything, and He gives neighborly (protection), and He is not given neighborly (protection by anyone), in case you know?”
Say, ‘Who holds control of everything in His hand? Who protects, while there is no protection against Him, if you know [so much]?’
Quran 23 Verse 88 Explanation
For those looking for commentary to help with the understanding of Surah Mu’minun ayat 88, we’ve provided two Tafseer works below. The first is the tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi, the second is of Ibn Kathir.
Ala-Maududi
(23:88) Ask them: “Say, if you indeed know, to whom belongs the dominion[81] over all things; (Who is it) that grants asylum, but against Whom no asylum is available?”
81. The word malakut in the text is a strong word which combines both sovereignty and ownership. The verse therefore means: Whose is the Sovereignty and Who possesses the real ownership rights over everything?
Ibn-Kathir
