Surah Qalam Ayat 45 in Arabic Text

وَأُمْلِى لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِينٌ
Wa umlee lahum; inna kaidee mateen

English Translation

Sahih International
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.

Yusuf Ali
A (long) respite will I grant them: truly powerful is My Plan.

Abul Ala Maududi
I am giving them a respite. Great is My scheme!

Muhsin Khan
And I will grant them a respite. Verily, My Plan is strong.

Pickthall
Yet I bear with them, for lo! My scheme is firm.

Dr. Ghali
And I will reprieve them. Surely My plotting is ever-pervading.

Ala-Maududi

(68:45) I am giving them a respite. Great is My scheme![28]


28. The word kayd in the original means to devise a secret scheme against another. It is an evil only in case it is devised to harm somebody unjustly, otherwise there is nothing wrong with it, especially when such a scheme is adopted against a person who has made himself worthy of it.
