Surah Hashr Ayat 15 in Arabic Text

كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ قَرِيبٗاۖ ذَاقُواْ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
Kamasalil lazeena min qablihim qareeban zaaqoo wabaala amrihim wa lahum ‘azaabun aleem

English Translation

Here you can read various translations of verse 15

Sahih International
[Theirs is] like the example of those shortly before them: they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment.

Yusuf Ali
Like those who lately preceded them, they have tasted the evil result of their conduct; and (in the Hereafter there is) for them a grievous Penalty;-

Abul Ala Maududi
They are like those who tasted the evil consequences of their deeds a short while before. A grievous chastisement awaits them.

Muhsin Khan
They are like their immediate predecessors (the Jews of Bani Qainuqa’, who suffered), they tasted the evil result of their conduct, and (in the Hereafter, there is) for them a painful torment;

Pickthall
On the likeness of those (who suffered) a short time before them, they taste the ill-effects of their own conduct, and theirs is painful punishment.

Dr. Ghali
(They are) as the likeness of (the ones) who were before them, they tasted the pernicious result of (disobeying the) Command (of Allah to them); and they will have a painful torment)

Abdel Haleem
Like those who went just before them, they have tasted the result of their conduct and a painful punishment awaits them.

Muhammad Junagarhi
ان لوگوں کی طرح جو ان سے کچھ ہی پہلے گزرے ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے کام کا وبال چکھ لیا اور جن کے لیے المناک عذاب (تیار) ہے

Quran 59 Verse 15 Explanation

Ala-Maududi

(59:15) They are like those who tasted the evil consequences of their deeds[26] a short while before. A grievous chastisement awaits them.


26. The allusion is to the disbelievers of the Quraish and the Jewish clan of the Bani Qrainuqa who had been defeated by a handful of ill-equipped Muslims in spite of their larger numbers and superior equipment, due mainly to these weaknesses.
