Surah Al-Imran Ayat 17 in Arabic Text

ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ وَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ
Assaabireena wassaa diqeena walqaaniteena walmunfiqeena walmus taghfireena bil ashaar

English Translation

Sahih International
The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.

Yusuf Ali
Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of Allah); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning.

Abul Ala Maududi
men who are steadfast, truthful, obedient, spend (in the way of Allah) and implore the forgiveness of Allah before daybreak.

Muhsin Khan
(They are) those who are patient ones, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allah. Those who spend [give the Zakat and alms in the Way of Allah] and those who pray and beg Allah’s Pardon in the last hours of the night.

Pickthall
The steadfast, and the truthful, and the obedient, those who spend (and hoard not), those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.

Dr. Ghali
(The ones who are) patient, and the sincere, and the devout, and the expenders (in the way of Allah), and (the ones who) ask forgiveness (from Allah) before dawn. (i.e. the hours before dawn)

Abdel Haleem
those who are steadfast, truthful, truly devout, who give [in God’s cause] and pray before dawn for forgiveness.’

Ala-Maududi

(3:17) men who are steadfast,[13] truthful, obedient, spend (in the way of Allah) and implore the forgiveness of Allah before daybreak.


13. That is, they are those who remain steadfast in the cause of Truth; who do not lose heart when they either suffer losses or are subjected to afflictions; who do not despair when they encounter reverses; who are not seduced by temptations. They are the ones who remain faithful to the Truth, even when it apparently stands no chance of prevailing see also (Surah 2, n. 60 above.)
