Surah Al-Isra Ayat 3 in Arabic Text

ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبْدًۭا شَكُورًۭا
Zurriyyata man hamalnaa ma’a Noohin innahoo kaana ‘abdan shakooraa

English Translation

Sahih International
O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.

Yusuf Ali
O ye that are sprung from those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah! Verily he was a devotee most grateful.

Abul Ala Maududi
You are the descendants of those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah. He was truly a thankful servant.

Muhsin Khan
“O offspring of those whom We carried (in the ship) with Nuh (Noah)! Verily, he was a grateful slave.”

Pickthall
(They were) the seed of those whom We carried (in the ship) along with Noah. Lo! he was a grateful slave.

Dr. Ghali
Offspring of whomever We carried with N‍ûh, (Noah) surely he was a constantly thankful bondman.

Abdel Haleem
you descendants of those We carried with Noah: he was truly a thankful servant.’

Quran 17 Verse 3 Explanation

Ala-Maududi

(17:3) You are the descendants of those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah.[4] He was truly a thankful servant.


4. That is, you are the descendants of Noah (peace be upon him) and his companions; therefore, you should behave in a manner as behooves such people. You should make Allah alone as your Guardian, for your ancestors escaped death from the flood only because they had made Allah their Guardian.
