English Translation

And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.
“‘And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually),
And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously,

And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth,
And Allah has caused you to grow as a growth from the earth.

Ala-Maududi
(71:17) And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously,[15]
15. Here, the creation of man out of the substances of the earth has been compared to the growth of vegetation. Just as at one time there was no vegetation on the earth, then Allah caused it to grow, so at one time man did not exist, then Allah created him.
