Surah Nur Ayat 29 in Arabic Text

لَّيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتًا غَيۡرَ مَسۡكُونَةٖ فِيهَا مَتَٰعٞ لَّكُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مَا تُبۡدُونَ وَمَا تَكۡتُمُونَ
Laisa ‘alaikum junaahun ann tadkhuloo buyootan ghaira maskoonatin feeha mataa’ul lakum; wallaahu ya’lamu maa tubdoona wa maa taktumoon

English Translation

Sahih International
There is no blame upon you for entering houses not inhabited in which there is convenience for you. And Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal.

Yusuf Ali
It is no fault on your part to enter houses not used for living in, which serve some (other) use for you: And Allah has knowledge of what ye reveal and what ye conceal.

Abul Ala Maududi
There is, however, no harm if you enter houses which are not dwelling places, but contain something useful for you; Allah knows what you disclose and what you conceal.

Muhsin Khan
There is no sin on you that you enter (without taking permission) houses uninhabited (i.e. not possessed by anybody), (when) you have any interest in them. And Allah has knowledge of what you reveal and what you conceal.

Pickthall
(It is) no sin for you to enter uninhabited houses wherein is comfort for you. Allah knoweth what ye proclaim and what ye hide.

Dr. Ghali
It is no fault in you that you enter undwelt (Literally: other than being dwelt) houses wherein are belongings for you; and Allah knows whatever you display and whatever you keep back.

Abdel Haleem
You will not be blamed for entering houses where no one lives, and which could provide you with some useful service. God knows everything you do openly and everything you conceal.

Muhammad Junagarhi
ہاں غیر آباد گھروں میں جہاں تمہارا کوئی فائده یا اسباب ہو، جانے میں تم پر کوئی گناه نہیں۔ تم جو کچھ بھی ﻇاہر کرتے ہو اور جو چھپاتے ہو اللہ تعالیٰ سب کچھ جانتا ہے

Ala-Maududi

(24:29) However, it is not blameworthy for you if you enter houses that are uninhabited but wherein there is something of use to you.[28] Allah is well aware of what you disclose and what you conceal.


28. Houses which are not dwelling place are the hotels, inns, guest houses, shops, staging bungalows, etc. which are generally open to all people.
