Surah Tahrim Ayat 7 in Arabic Text
Here you can read various translations of verse 7
O you who have disbelieved, make no excuses that Day. You will only be recompensed for what you used to do.
(They will say), “O ye Unbelievers! Make no excuses this Day! Ye are being but requited for all that ye did!”
(It will then be said): “Unbelievers, make no excuses today. You are being recompensed for nothing else but your deeds.”
(It will be said in the Hereafter) O you who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism)! Make no excuses this Day! You are being requited only for what you used to do.
(Then it will be said): O ye who disbelieve! Make no excuses for yourselves this day. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do.
O you who have disbelieved, do not excuse yourselves today; surely you are only being recompensed for whatever you were doing.
‘You who disbelieve, make no excuses today: you are only being repaid for what you used to do.’
Quran 66 Verse 7 Explanation
For those looking for commentary to help with the understanding of Surah Tahrim ayat 7, we’ve provided two Tafseer works below. The first is the tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi, the second is of Ibn Kathir.
(66:7) (It will then be said): “Unbelievers, make no excuses today. You are being recompensed for nothing else but your deeds.”
18. The style of both these verses contains a severe warning for the Muslims. In the first verse the Muslims have been addressed and told that they should save themselves and their households from the dreadful punishment. In the second that this will be said to the disbelievers while subjecting them to punishment in Hell. This by itself gives the meaning that the Muslims in the world should avoid adopting that conduct and behavior in consequence of which they may have to meet with the fate as the disbelievers in the Hereafter.
The tafsir of Surah Tahrim verse 7 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
