Surah Waqi’ah Ayat 4 in Arabic Text

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ رَجّٗا

Izaa rujjatil ardu rajjaa

Yusuf Ali
When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,

Abul Ala Maududi
when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking,

Ala-Maududi

(56:4) when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking,^[3]

3. That is, it will not be a local earthquake that may occur in a restricted area, but it will shake the whole earth to its depths all of a sudden, and it will experience a tremendous jolt and tremors all through.

Ibn-Kathir
