Last Year In Review

Progress Report For 2024:

Brief Introduction:

(عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ)(اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ)
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Alhamdulillah, every year we write an anuual review of all the projects and advancements made. By the will of Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ), we produced two audiobooks, written several extensive content guides, and developed new features for our educational kid games. But, most notably, we released our free Qur’an App for Android.

To all the readers and supporters of MyIslam.org, we want to express our sincerest gratitude as we welcome another blessed Ramadan. As cliche as it may sound, truly none of this would be possible without your support. May Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) accept this work from us, so we can all stand tall on a mountain of good deeds.

Our Mission:
Our mission here at My Islam is quite simple, make high quality Islamic Education more accessible. We want to create the largest Islamic website with various online resources that benefit all readers. Not just premium subscribers. Insha’Allah by reading our achievements of the past year, we hope that you consider donating so that we may continue this work.

Achievements:

#1 – QUR’AN APP:

We know there’s many great Islamic apps currently available. And you likely don’t need or want another one. So, in developing our Qur’an App, we knew we had to create something unlike any other app. Instead of just listing each feature, you can see an overview of the app by clicking on the arrow.

We’ve currently reached 15,000+ app downloads, 4.93 star rating from 411 users.
You can read some of the reviews of the app below.

Insha’Allah, with your support we’ll release the IOS version of the app. We’re still actively developing and looking for ways to improve the app. Our goal is to include a habit tracker (for salah), statistics to motivate users (e.g., track total time reading Qur’an), bringing content guides like the prophet series to the app, hadith books, dictionary of Islamic terms, Companions of Prophet (ﷺ) series, and more.

#3 – EDUCATIONAL GAMES:

Last year we developed a coloring book application. We wrote, This one is exciting because the core technology is developed, and we can now publish an entire series of educational books to make learning important Islamic content and life principles fun and engaging.

This year we made improvements to make it more user friendly. Added 3 new features (hand tool, assissted draw, and tutorial guide button). We went from one book, to housing eight.

  1. 99 Names of Allah (with audiobook)
  2. Yusuf’s First Wudu (with audiobook)
  3. Learn the Arabic Letters (with audiobook)
  4. My First Ramadan (with audiobook)
  5. Story of Prophet Adam (AS)
  6. Luqman’s Advice to Son
  7. Story of Prophet Nuh (AS)

Total of 256 coloring pages completed across all books. Our next two children’s book will be “Yusuf Learns to Pray” and “Amina Learns to Pray.”

Goal with this application:
Insha-Allah, with time, we’ll have many educational stories for kids to learn from on a single device. This would be like carrying a whole library worth of books but available everywhere you go… with an interactive element that is far better and more engaging for learning. The savings we’ll be passing on to users is quite large. A single children’s book can cost upwards of $20.00 and it typically wouldn’t include an audio experience.

We also created two additional applications. (1) Islamic Crossword Puzzle and (2) Word Search Game. Currently, these are available with around 30-40 puzzles completed for this Ramadan, but the goal here is to have a daily puzzle around a different subject matter.

About us

Our journey to get to where we are today.

As a small, self-funded team, we’ve learned how to do a lot with little.

We started just over 4 years ago, and by the will of Allah (سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ) our site is ranked among one of the most visited faith and belief sites in the entire world. We’ve poured a lot of effort into producing written educational content covering topics people are looking for answers to and interested in learning about. We’ve also created a suite of educational tools to help practicing Muslims.

This graph shows our entire website traffic since inception.

For the first year, no one knew we existed. We wrote many articles and developed the first version of our online Quran.

We had a few loyal readers who gave us encouraging feedback (thanks, mom), and we just kept working with faith. We like to call the initial phase of our existence the power of sabr.

Since then, we have been working diligently and consistently showed month-over-month improvement. We continually develop and create new educational tools, resources, and guides, which we enumerate in the annual review.

Alhamdulillah, fast-forward to today. We’ve expanded the team to include full-time, part-time, and freelance workers from all over the globe, including people from Pakistan, Canada, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, India, and Morroco. We hope to continue serving the community and adding to the breadth of amazing content online.

AN IMPORTANT INSIGHT

Last year, we discussed how if you want to control the narrative and show people the beauty of Islam, you have to own the spaces where they go to learn.

Social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter create an echo chamber; their algorithms push things they believe would keep users on their platforms. This usually results in confirmation bias – people seeing what they want to see and channels they’ve already subscribed to.

The space where people go to learn and explore a topic is Google. This is an important arena where showing up first matters as you’re given the opportunity to make a lasting impression. Getting the authentic answer can guide someone who’s lost and save their faith, providing them hope and solace through Islam.

The graph below shows that we currently have 24,794 spots in the top 3 positions on Google. Last year, we reported 19,351 in the top 3, representing a 28% increase. Two years ago, we only occupied 3231, a 667% increase.

All donors will receive a digital copy of the 99 Names of Allah book and early access to our first companion series story, “The Luminous Legacy of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq” which is not yet available.

Here’s a preview of the ninety-names book:

We greatly appreciate all the support.

We are self-funded by our readers. We have no sponsors or investors. We’ve refused all display ads/banner ad opportunities because we believe it creates a negative experience and want to respect the work by not overlaying it with advertisements.

This has its downside as we don’t maximize profits, but that’s not our goal. We want this site to benefit the reader, and offering a good user experience is part of that. But for this to be possible, we need a small group of loyal sustainers.

99.99% of people who benefit from our site don’t support it monetarily (which is fine). We ask you to join the 0.01% who allow it to be better for the rest of us. Insha’Allah, your support will help fund several educational projects for both kids and adults.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Take on only as much as you can do of good deeds, for the best of deeds is that which is done consistently, even if it is little.”
