Surah Muddaththir Ayat 45 in Arabic Text

وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلۡخَآئِضِينَ
Wa kunnaa nakhoodu ma’al khaaa’ideen

English Translation

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

Yusuf Ali
“But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers;

Abul Ala Maududi
and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk,

“And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers.

Pickthall
We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders,
