Surah MULK Ayah 27 in Arabic Text:

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةً سِيئَتْ وُجُوهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَدَّعُونَ

Transliteration:

Falaammaa ra-awhu zulfatan seee’at wujoohul lazeena kafaroo wa qeela haazal lazee kuntum bihee tadda’oon

 

English Translation:

DR. GHALI Then, as soon as they see it drawn forward, the faces of the disbelievers will be vexed, and it will be said, “This is (the thing) that you used to claim.”

MUHSIN KHAN But when they will see it (the torment on the Day of Resurrection) approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will change and turn black with sadness and in grief and it will be said (to them): “This is (the promise) which you were calling for!”

PICKTHALL But when they see it nigh, the faces of those who disbelieve will be awry, and it will be said (unto them): This is that for which ye used to call.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, “This is that for which you used to call.”

YUSUF ALI At length, when they see it close at hand, grieved will be the faces of the Unbelievers, and it will be said (to them): “This is (the promise fulfilled), which ye were calling for!”

MUFTI TAQI USMANI Then, once they will see it approaching, the faces of the disbelievers will be turned awkward, and it will be said, “This is what you were calling for!”

ABDUL HALEEM When they see it close at hand, the disbelievers’ faces will be gloomy, and it will be said, ‘This is what you were calling for.’

ABUL ALA MAUDUDI When they will see it near at hand, the faces of all those who had denied it will be distraught, and then they will be told: “This is the doom which you used to ask for.”

DR. MUSTAFA KHATTAB Then when they see the torment drawing near, the faces of the disbelievers will become gloomy, and it will be said ˹to them˺, “This is what you claimed would never come.”

(67:27) When they will see it near at hand, the faces of all those who had denied it will be distraught, [37] and then they will be told: “This is the doom which you used to ask for.”


37. That is, they will be in the same agony as is suffered by the criminal who is being taken to the gallows.
