And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, their argument is only that they say, “Bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful.”
And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them their argument is nothing but this: They say, “Bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!”
And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, their only contention is: “Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.”
And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, their argument is no other than that they say: “Bring back our (dead) fathers, if you are truthful!”

And when Our ayat (Verses, signs) are recited to them, supremely evident (signs), in no way do they have any argument excepting that they say, “Come up with (i.e., bring) our fathers, in case you are sincere.”
when Our clear revelations are recited to them, is to say, ‘Bring back our forefathers if what you say is true.’
Quran 45 Verse 25 Explanation
For those looking for commentary to help with the understanding of Surah Jathiya ayat 25, we’ve provided two Tafseer works below. The first is the tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi, the second is of Ibn Kathir.
Ala-Maududi
(45:25) And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them,[35] their only contention is: “Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.”[36]
35. “Our clear verses”: the Revelations in which strong arguments have been given for the possibility of the Hereafter and in which it has been stated that its occurrence is the demand of both wisdom and justice, and its non-occurrence renders the whole system of the universe meaningless and absurd.
36. In other words, what they meant to say was: When somebody tells them that there is life after death, he must raise a dead person from the grave and present him before them. And if this is not done, they cannot believe that the dead would ever be raised to life once again at some time in the future, whereas nobody ever told them that the dead would be raised to life in this world as and when required separately, but what was said was: On the Day of Resurrection Allah will raise all human beings to life simultaneously and will subject them to accountability and punish and reward them accordingly.
