Surah Zumar Ayat 28 in Arabic Text

قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيۡرَ ذِي عِوَجٖ لَّعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَّقُونَ

Qur-aanan ‘Arabiyyan ghaira zee ‘iwajil la’allahum yattaqoon

English Translation

Here you can read various translations of verse 28

Sahih International
[It is] an Arabic Qur’an, without any deviance that they might become righteous.

Yusuf Ali
(It is) a Qur’an in Arabic, without any crookedness (therein): in order that they may guard against Evil.

Abul Ala Maududi
It is an Arabic Qur’an free of all crookedness that they may guard against their evil end.

Muhsin Khan
An Arabic Quran, without any crookedness (therein) in order that they may avoid all evil which Allah has ordered them to avoid, fear Him and keep their duty to Him.

Pickthall
A Lecture in Arabic, containing no crookedness, that haply they may ward off (evil).

Dr. Ghali
An Arabic Qu⊃ ran, without comprising any crookedness, that possibly they would be pious.

Abdel Haleem
an Arabic Quran, free from any distortion- so that people may be mindful.

Quran 39 Verse 28 Explanation

Ala-Maududi

(39:28) It is an Arabic Qur’an^[46] free of all crookedness^[47] that they may guard against their evil end.

46. That is, it has not been sent down in a foreign language so that the people of Makkah and Arabia should stand in need of a translator or interpreter, but it is in their own language, which they can understand directly.

47. That is, there is nothing of double-dealing in it so that a common man should find it difficult to understand, but everything has been presented in it in a straightforward manner, from which everyone can know what this Book states as wrong and why, what it states as right and on what ground, what it wants the people to accept and what it wants them to reject, and what it enjoins and what it forbids.
