Surah Zumar Ayat 55 in Arabic Text
English Translation
Here you can read various translations of verse 55
And follow the best of what was revealed to you from your Lord before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you do not perceive,
“And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you – of a sudden while ye perceive not!-
Follow the best of what has been revealed to you from your Lord before the chastisement suddenly comes upon you without you even being aware of it.”
“And follow the best of that which is sent down to you from your Lord (i.e. this Quran, do what it orders you to do and keep away from what it forbids), before the torment comes on you suddenly while you perceive not!”
And follow the better (guidance) of that which is revealed unto you from your Lord, before the doom cometh on you suddenly when ye know not,
And closely follow the fairest of what has been sent down to you from your Lord even before the torment comes up to you suddenly while (Literally: and) you are not aware,
Follow the best teaching sent down to you from your Lord, before the punishment suddenly takes you, unawares,
اور پیروری کرو اس بہترین چیزکی جو تمہاری طرف تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے نازل کی گئی ہے، اس سے پہلے کہ تم پر اچانک عذاب آجائے اور تمہیں اطلاع بھی نہ ہو

Ala-Maududi
(39:55) Follow the best[72] of what has been revealed to you from your Lord before the chastisement suddenly comes upon you without you even being aware of it.”
72. “To follow the best aspect of the Book of Allah” means that one should carry out the commands Allah has given and refrain from what He has forbidden, and learn lessons from what He has brought out in the parables and narratives. As against this, the one who turns away from Allah’s commands, indulges in the forbidden things, and does not heed His admonitions, follows the worst aspect of the Book of Allah, i.e. that aspect which the divine Book has declared as the most evil.
