Surah Maryam Ayat 9 in Arabic Text

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٞ وَقَدۡ خَلَقۡتُكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَلَمۡ تَكُ شَيۡـٔٗا
Qaala kazaalika qaala Rabbuka huwa ‘alaiya haiyinunw wa qad khalaqtuka min qablu wa lam taku shai’aa

English Translation

Sahih International
[An angel] said, “Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.’ “

Yusuf Ali
He said: “So (it will be) thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: I did indeed create thee before, when thou hadst been nothing!'”

Abul Ala Maududi
He answered: “So shall it be.” Your Lord says: “It is easy for Me,” and then added: “For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing.”

Muhsin Khan
He said: “So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!”

Pickthall
He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught.

Dr. Ghali
He said, “Thus (it will be) your Lord has said. Simple is it for Me, and I already created you, earlier, and you were nothing.”

Abdel Haleem
He said, ‘This is what your Lord has said: “It is easy for Me: I created you, though you were nothing before.” ’

Muhammad Junagarhi
ارشاد ہوا کہ وعده اسی طرح ہو چکا، تیرے رب نے فرما دیا ہے کہ مجھ پر تو یہ بالکل آسان ہے اور تو خود جبکہ کچھ نہ تھا میں تجھے پیدا کر چکا ہوں

Quran 19 Verse 9 Explanation

Ala-Maududi

(19:9) He answered: “So shall it be.” Your Lord says: “It is easy for Me,” and then added: “For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing.”[6]


6. This dialogue is meant to impress that Allah is able to do whatever He wills and can make an impotent man and a barren woman give birth to a child, and likewise a virgin can be made to conceive a child.
