Surah Hud Ayat 21 in Arabic Text
English Translation
Here you can read various translations of verse 21
Those are the ones who will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
They are the ones who have lost their own souls: and the (fancies) they invented have left them in the lurch!
They caused utter loss to themselves, and all that they had invented failed them.
They are those who have lost their ownselves, and their invented false deities will vanish from them.
Such are they who have lost their souls, and that which they used to invent hath failed them.
Those are (the ones) who have lost their (own) selves, and what they used to fabricate has erred (Or: strayed; i.e., their fabrications have left them) away from them.
It is they who will have lost their souls, and what they invented will have deserted them.
یہی ہیں جنہوں نے اپنا نقصان آپ کر لیا اور وه سب کچھ ان سے کھو گیا، جو انہوں نے گھڑ رکھا تھا
Quran 11 Verse 21 Explanation
For those looking for commentary to help with the understanding of Surah Hud ayat 21, we’ve provided two Tafseer works below. The first is the tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi, the second is of Ibn Kathir.
Ala-Maududi
(11:21) They caused utter loss to themselves, and all that they had invented failed them.[26]
26. All their conjectures regarding God, the universe and their own selves will prove to be absolutely baseless in the next life. Similarly, the notions they entertained about the help and support they would receive from those they considered to be either their deities, or their intercessors with God, or their patrons will prove to be false. Likewise, it will become obvious that all their notions about the Afterlife were utterly untrue.
Ibn-Kathir
The tafsir of Surah Hud verse 21 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
