Surah Hud Ayat 59 in Arabic Text

وَتِلْكَ عَادٌۭ ۖ جَحَدُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا۟ رُسُلَهُۥ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍۢ
Wa tilka ‘aad, jahadoo bi Aayaati Rabbihim wa ‘asaw Rusulahoo wattaba’ooo amra kulli jabbaarin ‘aneed

English Translation

Sahih International
And that was ‘Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant.

Yusuf Ali
Such were the ‘Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His messengers; And followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor.

Abul Ala Maududi
Such were ‘Ad. They repudiated the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the bidding of every tyrannical enemy of the truth.

Muhsin Khan
Such were ‘Ad (people). They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).

Pickthall
And such were A’ad. They denied the revelations of their Lord and flouted His messengers and followed the command of every froward potentate.

And that was Aad; they repudiated the signs of their Lord, and disobeyed His Messengers, and closely followed the command of every stubborn potentate.

Ala-Maududi

(11:59) Such were ‘Ad. They repudiated the signs of their Lord, disobeyed His Messengers,[65] and followed the bidding of every tyrannical enemy of the truth.


65. Though only one Messenger had come to them, he had presented the same message that had been presented by every Messenger in every age to every community. Therefore disobedience to one Messenger has been declared to be disobedience to all the Messengers.
