Surah Hud Ayat 34 in Arabic Text

وَلَا يَنفَعُكُمۡ نُصۡحِيٓ إِنۡ أَرَدتُّ أَنۡ أَنصَحَ لَكُمۡ إِن كَانَ ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يُغۡوِيَكُمۡۚ هُوَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ
Wa laa yanfa’ukum nusheee in arattu an ansaha lakum in kaanal laahu yureedu ai yughwi yakum; Huwa Rabbukum wa ilaihi turja’oon

English Translation

And my advice will not benefit you – although I wished to advise you – If Allah should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned.”

Yusuf Ali
“Of no profit will be my counsel to you, much as I desire to give you (good) counsel, if it be that Allah willeth to leave you astray: He is your Lord! and to Him will ye return!”

Abul Ala Maududi
If I want to give you good advice that will not profit you if Allah Himself has decided to let you go astray. He is your Lord, and to Him will you be returned.’

Muhsin Khan
“And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allah’s Will is to keep you astray. He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return.”

Quran 11 Verse 34 Explanation

Ala-Maududi

(11:34) If I want to give you good advice that will not profit you if Allah Himself has decided to let you go astray.[38] He is your Lord, and to Him will you be returned.’


38. That is, all my efforts to do good to you cannot prove effective, if Allah has decided to withhold the right way from you because of your obduracy in evil and the lack of interest in good ways. For Allah lets people go astray on the way they choose for themselves.
