Surah Mu’minun Ayat 118 in Arabic Text
English Translation
Here you can read various translations of verse 118
And, [O Muhammad], say, “My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.”
So say: “O my Lord! grant Thou forgiveness and mercy for Thou art the Best of those who show mercy!”
And say, (O Muhammad): “My Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of those that are merciful.”
And say (O Muhammad SAW): “My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for You are the Best of those who show mercy!”
And (O Muhammad) say: My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for Thou art Best of all who show mercy.
And say, “Lord! Forgive and have mercy, and you are The Most Charitable of the merciful.”
Say [Prophet], ‘Lord, forgive and have mercy: You are the most merciful of all.’
اور کہو کہ اے میرے رب! تو بخش اور رحم کر اور تو سب مہربانوں سے بہتر مہربانی کرنے واﻻ ہے
Quran 23 Verse 118 Explanation

Ala-Maududi
(23:118) And say, (O Muhammad): “My Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of those that are merciful.”[107]
107. Compare and contrast this prayer with (Surah Al-Muminun, ayat 109). Here the Prophet (peace be upon him) has been told to make the same prayer as contained in (Surah Al-Muminun, ayat 109), as if to say, You (and your followers) should supplicate Allah with the same prayer so that, if the people scoff at you, they themselves might provide a proof of a strong case against themselves.
