English Translation

They said, “If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted.”
They said: “If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!”
They said: “O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns).”
They said: “If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!”
They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast.
They said, “Indeed in case you do not refrain, O Lt, indeed you will definitely be of the driven out.”
but they replied, ‘Lot! If you do not stop this, you will be driven away.’

Quran 26 Verse 167 Explanation

Ala-Maududi
(26:167) They said: “O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns).”[111]
111. That is, you know that whosoever has spoken against us, or protested against our doings, or opposed us in any way, he has been turned out of our habitations. If you also behave like that, you too will be treated likewise. It has been stated in Surahs Al-Aaraf and An-Naml that before giving this warning to Prophet Lot (peace be upon him), the wicked people had decided to “turn out these people of your habitations for they pose to be very pious.” (Surah Al- Aaraf, Ayat 82).
